Role Description

The Project Manager is responsible for leading the execution of MPOWER’s residential Powerwall projects. Ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget requirements are paramount. The Project Manager must exhibit strong communication, planning, and coordination skills with a diverse set of project stakeholders: subcontracted trades, homeowners, utilities, vendors, inspectors and MPOWER team members. Striking a balance between the desired project outcomes and business priorities requires flexibility and perseverance; forward-looking leadership is a must. Familiarity with household electrical systems, construction methods and hands-on experience delivering province-wide installation service programs are a prerequisite for success.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of contractual requirements, design packages and specifications, scopes of work, critical path schedule, quality requirements, and site safety plans.
  • Coordinate, manage and direct vendors and subcontractors to execute the contracted scope using quality construction methods and industry recognized construction standards.
  • Establish and manage project communication channels such as regular status meetings and engage key stakeholders including subcontracted trades, homeowners, utilities, vendors, inspectors, and MPOWER team members.
  • Act as a conduit between onsite and offsite project team members and maintain rigorous, transparent communication with the management team.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors to create site plans, site specific quotes, site logistics plans and sequence of work.
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and perform QA/QC activities in conjunction with material turnover to subcontractors and/or project owners.
  • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting of all incidents.
  • Identify, mitigate, communicate, escalate, and manage installation risks/issues.
  • Accept feedback from key stakeholders and implement continuous process improvement.
  • Review and provide input/data for RFI’s, Submittal’s, and Change Orders to MPOWER management team.
  • Deliver training to new installers on project timelines, deliverables, and expectations.
  • Prepare quotes for submission to utility clients and respond to questions and requests.
  • Map customer sites and subcontractor service areas and identify new capacity needs.
  • Review deliverables submitted by subcontractors to verify completeness and quality of work.
  • Assess work progress daily and prepare internal and external reports documenting overall job status as required.
  • Ensure project documentation is current and preserved in the assigned document repositories.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of project management experience
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • Understanding of residential electrical systems is a major asset

Skills and Attributes

  • Fluency in French is an asset.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including MS Project or similar software.

Workload, Commitments, and Interactions

  • Works full-time hours as necessary to perform all duties under this role.
  • Hybrid work environment - combination of working at MPOWER's office in Toronto, ON and working remotely.
  • Some travel may be required for site visits.
  • Works closely with all MPOWER employees.
