Novarc Technologies is looking for a talented and motivated R&D Co-op to join our Machine Vision team to innovate welding camera technologies.

Summary: As a R&D Co-op you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge machine vision solutions, including stereo cameras and welding cameras. Your contributions will be instrumental in enhancing the performance, accuracy, and efficiency of vision-based welding automation products.

Preferred co-op term: 8 months.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research and Innovation: Assist in researching new technologies and innovations in the field of imaging systems for welding application. Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in optics, sensors, image processing, and related technologies.

• Design and Prototyping: Support the design and development of camera prototypes. Participate in brainstorming sessions to conceptualize new camera features and functionalities. Work on CAD models and other design tools to create detailed schematics and plans.

• Testing and Analysis: Conduct tests and experiments with prototypes to evaluate performance and identify potential issues. Analyze data and generate reports to present findings to the team. Assist in debugging and troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

• Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation for designs, experiments, and tests. Write technical reports and presentations to communicate progress and results to the team.

• Learning and Development: Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge through hands-on experience and mentorship.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Education: Enrolled in Engineering Physics or Mechatronics program.

• Experience: Completion of past co-op terms is preferred.

• Technical Skills: SolidWorks (CAD), basic schematic design.

• Programming Skills: working knowledge with Python.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address hardware-related challenges quickly and effectively.

• Team Player: Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic work environment with evolving project requirements.
