Novarc Technologies is looking for a R&D Shop Coordinator to join our growing team and support the production of our cobots.

Summary: As a R&D Shop Coordinator, you will leverage your welding expertise to advance our welding robot design. Your responsibilities will include organizing and ordering materials for fabricating, welding, building parts, fitting pipes when necessary, using robots for internal R&D purposes, assisting with QA and various NDT/VT testing methods, installing robots at customer sites and providing technical customer support.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare sample joints jigs or spools and fit up as required;

  • Perform completion of projects and testings per development plans and assigned by welding team;

  • Assist the engineering and welding development teams in testing and commissioning product features;

  • Provide support for Field Installation of equipment when required;

  • Ensure quality of welding operations and applying weld standards;

  • Identify and solve welding issues and prepare reports;

  • Provide technical guidance and instruction to the welding team;

  • Develop welding related policies and procedures;

  • Monitor performance and progress of welding activities;

  • Ensure proper inventory and stock of welding materials;

  • Communicate with suppliers and customers to maintain relationships;

  • Manage safety of welding operations and best practices in PPE implementation;

  • Perform VT and NDT on welds as required;

  • Prepare reports on weld inspections;

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company rules, policies and procedures

  • Must use or/and wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by the Company.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of welding industry experience.

  • Formal welding training certifications or accreditations

  • Strong understanding of the common arc welding processes, especially GMAW

  • Working knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing of welded metal parts

  • Ability to detect defects visual defects in fillet and groove welds

  • Ability to accurately conduct measurements (good math skills)

  • Ability to stand, bend and walk for extended periods of time

  • Ability to communicate fluently and effectively in English

  • Detailed organizer and excellent time management skills

  • Flexibility with shifts (dependent on workflow and project requirements)

Nice to have:

  • Pipe Welding experience;

  • Welding inspection experience;

  • Industrial robot/Cobot programing experience;

  • Shop managing experience;

  • Journeyman with ‘A’ level certificate.

Schedule:

  • Core hours: Monday to Friday, starting between 07:00 and 07:30

  • Flexibility to work outside of regular hours and on weekends if and when needed to support remote installs in North America or outside North America in other time zones
