The Platform Developer at Noibu plays a critical role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our data pipelines, backend systems, and core platform services. This role spans multiple disciplines—from low-level systems and infrastructure to high-level software development—primarily in Go and Java, with some legacy components in scripting languages and Rust. You'll work alongside a highly experienced team to make architectural decisions that have significant downstream impact, ensuring our systems are scalable, reliable, and performant. This is a hybrid role based in Ottawa, with an expectation of 2+ days a week in office, and includes participation in our on-call rotation to support platform stability.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design and build scalable backend systems using Go and Java
- Develop and maintain infrastructure to support Noibu’s core platform services
- Build and optimize high-throughput data pipelines that power critical business insights
- Make key architectural decisions with long-term impact on system scalability and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are reliable, maintainable, and aligned with business goals
- Contribute to the evolution of our technical strategy and infrastructure roadmap
Who You Are:
- Proficient in Golang and Java for backend system development
- Experienced with Rust and legacy scripting languages is a plus
- Strong understanding of datastores and data modeling, with experience in PostgreSQL (and ClickHouse a nice-to-have)
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-code practices
- Familiarity with GCP and cloud-native architectures
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven system design
- Background in data infrastructure and building near real-time systems
- Proven experience measuring and optimizing system throughput for high-performance workloads
- Prior involvement in an on-call rotation, with a strong focus on reliability and incident response
