The Role
Neo Financial is looking for a full-time Senior Risk Specialist to join our team in Calgary. Our risk & compliance team navigates through a fast-paced environment and knows how to switch gears to adapt to any scenario. We strive to make things better, simpler and stronger. What you'll be doing:
- Drive initiatives to strengthen the Neo’s operational risk framework, including scenario analysis and risk control self-assessments (RCSA).
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across business units, identifying key operational, financial, and compliance risks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain controls to mitigate identified risks within Neo's risk tolerance thresholds.
- Implement business and IT control frameworks and guidelines in high-growth environments.
- Establish and maintain a framework for regular risk monitoring and reporting.
- Prepare detailed risk reports and dashboards for senior management, providing actionable insights and recommendations
- Develop and maintain risk policies, procedures, and control frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure risk considerations are integrated into strategic decisions.
- Champion risk awareness and contribute to building a strong risk culture across the organization.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.
Who we are looking for:
- Minimum of 5+ years in risk management, operational risk, payment services or related roles within the financial services industry.
- Deep understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g., COSO, ISO, or OSFI guidelines).
- Familiarity with relevant regulations, including RPAA, OSFI B-10, PCI DSS, PCMLTFA, and PIPEDA.
- Experience with GRC tools and systems (e.g., Resolver) for monitoring and reporting.
- Professional designations such as CRM, CRISC, CISA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite; familiarity with risk management software is a plus.
- Proactive and adaptable, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
