The Role

We’re looking for a VP Mortgage Strategy and Growth to bring their lending expertise and strategic vision to Neo’s leadership team, based in Calgary, AB. We're strongly focused on someone who can grow our mortgage lending business from the ground up with the goal in mind to become the largest non-bank lender in Canada. This individual will own the P&L of our mortgage business, including strategy, growth, and new product development.

In this role, you can shape the future of banking in Canada. You will have oversight and responsibility for our mortgage lending strategy and growth plans, budget, KPIs and overall impact. You will work with the management team to develop and execute growth strategy and business plans to ensure that the company attains its short and long-term objectives.

What you’ll be doing

  • Ownership over the P&L of entire mortgage division
  • Lead the growth, strategy, and relationships of our new mortgage business, including developing and executing on the product and go to market strategies
  • Drive sales productivity across the various distribution and origination channels, including direct to consumer and broker channels
  • Work with the team to streamline the underwriting process using technology and best-in-class processes and training
  • Establish and maintain the relevant capital markets partners to support the growth of the business and new products
  • Drive and build the mortgage product roadmap alongside the product, technology, and finance teams to provide better accessibility, affordability, and options for all Canadians

Who we are looking for

  • A business leader with strong experience building and owning P&L of mortgage portfolios
  • A minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in the mortgage lending space, building and leading a sales team and underwriting team; having experiences in both is preferred
  • Entrepreneurial DNA - comfortable building a business from the ground up, making decisions in the face of ambiguity (but make data-driven decisions when possible) and dealing with major challenges along the way with poise
  • Strategic thinker with a strong ‘business sense’
  • Excellent EQ - managing relationships with a large external network of partners, as well as building and managing an internal team
  • Bias towards action - we’re not looking for just a “strategy” person - we’re looking for someone to translate that strategy into an actionable plan and flawlessly execute and iterate on it
