Position Overview
We are seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead the finance, BI/Analytics, and accounting functions and drive financial strategy, planning, and operational excellence. Reporting to the CEO, the VP of Finance will work closely with the executive leadership team to strengthen performance management, enhance governance and controls, and ensure regulatory readiness in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
This role is well suited to an experienced finance leader who is comfortable leading a lean, high performing team of 3 – 4 individuals. The VP of Finance will play a critical role in improving and operating finance processes that support scale, regulatory expectations, and informed decision making, while remaining closely connected to day-to-day execution.
Key Responsibilities
Financial strategy, planning, performance & risk management
- Lead company-wide fiat and digital asset management, including treasury, liquidity, and capital planning. Drive the financial model and long-term planning, offering capital allocation advice and scenario analysis for strategic and regulatory needs.
- Partner with product and revenue teams to assess pricing, unit economics, and profitability drivers.
- Support strategic initiatives including M&A evaluation, financial diligence, shareholder communications and integration planning as required.
- Deliver clear, decision-oriented performance reporting and KPI narratives for executive and Board review.
Accounting, financial reporting & controls
- Oversee accounting operations, payroll and month-end close.
- Own and continuously enhance the internal control environment, including maintaining control design and effectiveness, remediating audit and regulatory findings, and ensuring ongoing audit and regulatory readiness.
- Oversee the preparation, presentation, and integrity of IFRS financial statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness and readiness for audit.
- Lead external audits and serve as the primary executive contact for auditors.
Regulatory reporting, compliance & governance
- Prepare and own CIRO‑related regulatory filings, including Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs) and Form 1 filings, and maintain Internal Control Policy Statement’s (IDPSs) and relevant sections of the Dealer’s Policies and Procedures Manual (PPM).
- Own CIRO IDPC rules and compliance, including capital adequacy, insurance coverage, and monitoring of ongoing solvency requirements.
- Partner with Compliance, Legal, and Risk to ensure financial governance aligns with regulatory expectations.
- Lead preparation of Board and committee financial materials and participate in Board discussions as required.
- Proactively assess and prepare for evolving regulatory and supervisory requirements.
Finance Systems, BI & Data Infrastructure
- Own the finance systems roadmap, including ERP, planning, reporting, and BI/analytics tools.
- Drive automation and process optimization across close, reporting, controls, and planning.
- Partner cross-functionally to improve financial data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
- Enable self-serve analytics and insight generation for leadership decision-making.
Team Leadership & Organizational Development
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance, BI/Analytics, and accounting functions.
- Set clear goals, accountability, and development plans across the department.
- Foster a culture of ownership, rigor, and continuous improvement.
Required
- CPA designation (CPA‑CA, CPA‑CGA, CPA‑CMA or equivalent).
- Successful completion of the CSI Chief Financial Officer Qualifying Examination, or in progress.
- 5+ years of senior‑level finance experience within a CIRO‑regulated or securities‑adjacent environment, such as investment dealers, capital markets platforms, trading venues, or fintechs subject to CIRO oversight.
- 10+ years of progressive experience across finance and accounting, including people leadership.
- Expertise in financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting standards applicable to regulated financial institutions.
- Experience as the primary liaison with regulators and other external stakeholders.
Preferred
- Experience supporting regulatory change initiatives.
- Experience implementing finance, reporting, or compliance systems to support regulatory compliance.
- Background in fintech, crypto, capital markets, or high‑growth financial services.
- Experience preparing executive‑ and Board‑level materials related to financial performance, regulatory posture, and risk.
- Proven track record of scaling finance operations in a highly regulated, fast‑growing environment.
