WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a senior brand leader who has owned brand strategy and major campaigns end-to-end, not just contributed to them. This role is for someone who can define positioning, lead creative direction, and be accountable for outcomes across brand, campaigns, and product storytelling.

You have experience working inside product-led, design-forward consumer brands, and you’re comfortable influencing Product, Design, and Growth teams without needing formal authority. You know how to balance long-term brand building with short-term performance goals, and you have strong creative judgment across design, copy, and narrative.

If your experience is primarily limited to content execution, social media management, or brand governance without true ownership, this role will not be the right fit.

This role requires in-office presence at our Toronto HQ a minimum of 2 days per week (typically Mondays and Tuesdays).

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Brand Strategy & Growth

  • Define and evolve Nanoleaf’s brand positioning, narrative, and differentiation across markets.
  • Translate company and marketing objectives into annual and quarterly brand plans.
  • Build and maintain a strong consumer insight engine (audience, category, cultural signals, competitive landscape).
  • Own brand architecture, including product families, naming logic, and messaging hierarchy.

Campaign Strategy & Creative Leadership

  • Develop and lead the “big idea” for major campaigns and product launches.
  • Set campaign strategy across messaging, creative direction, channel roles, and success metrics.
  • Ensure campaigns drive both brand equity and performance outcomes.
  • Own creative direction, approvals, and post-campaign retrospectives.

Product Shaping & Feature Innovation

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and R&D to influence roadmaps through a brand and consumer lens.
  • Identify and champion brand-defining innovation opportunities across features, experiences, and ecosystem.
  • Lead product naming, feature framing, and launch storytelling.
  • Ensure brand consistency across onboarding, packaging, app moments, retail, and physical experiences.

Brand Identity & Look / Feel

  • Own and evolve Nanoleaf’s visual identity across all touchpoints.
  • Set creative standards for design, photography, video, motion, and writing.
  • Collaborate using basic design tools with the design team.
  • Maintain brand guidelines and lead creative reviews to continuously raise quality

Content Direction & Channel Strategy

    • Define content pillars, brand voice, and tone.
    • Build repeatable content formats and creator/community flywheels.
    • Align content strategy with campaign and product priorities.

    WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In this role, success is not measured by output, it’s measured by impact. Success indicators include:

    • Increased brand awareness, preference, and consideration in priority markets.
    • A brand that feels unmistakably Nanoleaf everywhere it shows up.
    • Fewer, bigger, sharper campaigns with clear impact.
    • Products and features that reinforce brand identity—not just functionality.
    • Content systems that compound over time.
    • Fast, high-quality execution enabled by strong briefs and clear governance.

WHAT YOU ADD TO THE MIX

    Required Experience

    • Working Experience of 7–12 years in brand, marketing, or creative leadership roles.
    • Demonstrated ownership of brand positioning and integrated campaigns from strategy through execution.
    • Hands-on experience shaping product launches, including naming, messaging, and launch narratives.
    • Practical use of design tools such as Figma, Adobe Suite, etc.
    • Proven ability to lead creative direction across design, copy, and storytelling (not just managing agencies).
    • Experience partnering closely with Product, Design, and Growth teams in a product-led organization.
    • Track record of tying brand work to measurable business outcomes (awareness, consideration, conversion, or revenue impact).
    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with comfort operating in ambiguity.

    Nice to Have

    • Experience in consumer tech, hardware, or design-led lifestyle brands.
    • Experience managing global or multi-market brands.
    • Product naming and launch experience at scale.
    • People leadership or mentorship experience.
    • Interest in smart home technology, gaming, wellness technology or creator culture.
    • Bonus points: Working proficiency in spoken Mandarin for job-related conversations (reading/writing can be supported with translation tools).

    What This Role Is NOT

    • Not an entry-level or mid-level brand role.
    • Not a pure content, social media, or community role.
    • Not a brand governance or approvals-only position.

    HOW YOU'LL BE EVALUATED

Candidates will be evaluated based on:

    • Clarity of brand thinking and ability to articulate positioning and differentiation.
    • Quality and impact of campaigns personally led.
    • Experience influencing product direction through brand and consumer insight.
    • Creative judgment and ability to raise the bar across execution.
    • Ability to connect brand work to business and performance outcomes.

Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific examples of brand strategies, campaigns, and product launches they have owned.

    WHAT WE OFFER

An opportunity to work on a globally recognized, design-led brand, in a collaborative, creative, and growth-oriented team environment, PLUS:

    • Competitive compensation (the salary range budgeted for this role is $125,000–$140,000 CAD annually).
    • HSA-based health benefits.
    • Eligibility to participate in a performance-based bonus program.
    • Opportunity to participate in Nanoleaf’s Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP).
    • Flexible, hybrid work model based out of our Toronto HQ (across the street from St Lawrence Market, steps away from TTC and Union Station).

Only applications submitted through BambooHR, our official career portal, will be considered.
