We are seeking an Intermediate Business Development Representative (BDR) to support our growing business development and customer engagement team. This role is ideal for an experienced sales or business development professional who is interested in enterprise technology, defence innovation, customer engagement, and solution-based software sales. The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying opportunities, engaging prospective customers, supporting product demonstrations, and helping expand Modest Tree’s presence across defence, aerospace, marine, and industrial sectors. Key Responsibilities- Identify, qualify, and pursue new customer leads across defence, aerospace, marine, industrial, and enterprise sectors- Conduct outbound prospecting activities through email, phone, LinkedIn, conferences, and other digital engagement platforms- Qualify inbound and outbound leads to assess customer requirements, project scope, and potential sales opportunities- Support and participate in software demonstrations and presentations for prospective customers and partners- Conduct market research on organizations, programs, procurement initiatives, and emerging opportunities within target industries- Maintain accurate lead, customer, and opportunity information within the company CRM platform- Manage ongoing customer engagement activities including follow-ups, information requests, capability discussions, and opportunity nurturing- Coordinate with internal technical and delivery teams to support customer requirements and proposal activities- Support customer onboarding activities and assist with maintaining onboarding, training, and support documentation- Assist with trade shows, conferences, industry events, and customer visits- Maintain regular communication with prospective and existing clients to support long-term relationship development- Monitor software license renewals, support agreements, and contract expiries while assisting with renewal activities- Help identify strategic partnership and teaming opportunities within target markets- Contribute to the growth and expansion of Modest Tree’s customer base and market presence What We Are Looking For- Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia and able to work on-site in a hybrid environment, or based in Ottawa, Ontario and able to work remotely with periodic travel- Strong interest in enterprise software sales, customer engagement, and business development- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills- Comfortable presenting technology solutions and engaging with technical and executive stakeholders- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management abilities- Ability to understand complex software platforms and communicate technical concepts clearly- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously- Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively across teams- Interest in defence, aerospace, marine, simulation, or industrial technology sectors Qualifications- Degree or diploma in Business, Marketing, Technology, Engineering, or a related field- Several years of experience in sales, business development, or customer engagement- Experience supporting enterprise software, SaaS platforms, simulation technologies, or technical solutions- Experience with CRM platforms such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent systems- Experience working with government, defence, industrial, or technical customers is considered an asset- Previous experience supporting proposals, customer demonstrations, or trade events is considered an asset Security ClearanceDue to the nature of our work with defence and government clients:- Candidates must be eligible to obtain Canadian Security Clearance (Reliability Status or Secret)- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency may be required What We Offer- Hybrid and flexible work model- Opportunity to work with cutting-edge immersive and 3D training technologies- Exposure to global enterprise customers and leading OEM organizations- Professional development and career advancement opportunities- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package- A collaborative and innovative team culture
