- Administration:
- Assist with PDM administration by defining and configuring the correct settings for PDM and SW.
- Update SW to the latest version and ensure proper installation across relevant teams.
- SW & PDM Efficiency:
- Assess vault speed (check-in, check-out, save, get latest) and implement solutions to restore normal performance.
- Evaluate and fix Vault and SW bugs, including random crashes and check-in issues for each user.
- Create or modify SW settings, configurations, and templates to streamline design methodologies and standardize drawings.
- PDM Workflow/Safety:
- Implement PDM workflows to secure released parts by making them undeletable and preventing unauthorized modifications.
- Automate the process of saving PDFs and Parasolid (released files) to a read-only storage through PDM workflows.
- Area of Improvement:
- Define and document rules and practices for designing, drafting, and storing large parts and assemblies, including a design guideline document specific to large file design.
- Clean up the database by removing unnecessary files from the vault and updating descriptions of off-the-shelf components
- Assist in revising naming convention of documents to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Create macros to accelerate and automate repetitive processes.
- Develop a comprehensive design guideline document that gathers best practices for designers, including examples, images, and case studies to facilitate the creation of Minesense products.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Provide regular progress reports detailing completed tasks, ongoing issues, and proposed solutions.
- Document all changes made to PDM settings, workflows, and software configurations for future reference.
- Create a final report summarizing all work completed, recommendations for ongoing improvements, and potential training needs for the internal team.
- Training and Support:
- Conduct training sessions for staff on new PDM workflows, software updates, and best practices.
- Develop training materials or user guides to assist staff in adapting to new processes and configurations.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure that all changes comply with company standards and industry best practices.
- Review and update internal policies regarding data safety and design practices.
Qualifications:
- 2-4+ years of working experience in Solidworks/CAD Administrative functions
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related function is preferred
- Proficient with MS 365
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Must be able to work with demanding deadlines and changing priorities.
- Self-starter, ability to work independently and in teams.
- Health & Safety conscious individual.
- Legally able to work in Canada.
