We are looking to add an experienced Senior II Electrical Engineer to our Product Development team in Vancouver. Reporting to the Team Lead Electrical Engineering, the Senior II Electrical/Electronic Engineer is responsible for design and development of Electrical and Electronic components and systems and providing expert-level technical guidance in the development and validation of complex electrical systems, and ensuring project success by overseeing collaboration with cross-functional teams. The individual will also mentor peers, and ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices, while mitigating risks and driving the implementation of innovative solutions. An ideal candidate will be a detail oriented self-starter that enjoys developing innovative solutions.
Job Description:
- Uses expert level proficiency to lead the development and implementation of testing and verification plans to validate complex electrical assemblies and electronic circuits and ensure compliance with industry standards
- Oversees component selection, schematic capture and PCB layout of digital and analog electronic circuits and power supplies
- Architecting the electrical assemblies and board-level designs and integration of OEM modules into the company products
- Overseeing collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams and senior management and delegating tasks to ensure project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to high quality standards
- Oversees and reviews standard documentation for internal and external parties
- Collaborates regularly with engineering leaders to develop metrics, project plans and review project/team success
- Prototyping the first articles and troubleshooting the designs
- Leads collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers to resolve technical issues
- Approving reports, designs, and drawings while ensuring adherence to company best practices
- Leading Root Cause Analysis of failures and DFM activities
- Meeting the schedule and quality requirements for all project deliverables
- Mentoring & Coaching:
- Providing expert level technical guidance and coaching to multi-disciplinary coworkers and fellow engineers by connecting technical expertise to business outcomes
- Regularly conducts peer reviews and offers thought leadership throughout the engineering team to ensure transfer of knowledge. Oversees sharing new best practices / process updates and improvements with cross functional team members
Qualifications:
- Generally, a 4-year degree (PhD or masters preferred) in a relevant electrical discipline. I.e. Electrical, Electronics, Controls Systems or similar.
- Generally, 6-8+ years of experience in an electrical, electronics or relevant discipline.
- Experience with High Voltage power supplies and X-ray applications is an asset (nice to have)
- Hands on experience with testing equipment such as oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, electronic load, and signal generators
- Proven debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Expert level proficiency in circuit board CAD tools such as Altium
- Expert level proficiency in circuit and control simulation tools
- Experience with embedded electronics and embedded programming is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organization skills with attention to details.
- Registration as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in BC, or eligibility for registration is required.
- Self-starter, motivated and able to work independently and in teams
- Health & Safety conscious individual
- Legally able to work in Canada
The salary offered to the successful candidate will be based on their experience, knowledge and skills they bring to MineSense, market data based on their location as well as internal equity. Keeping this mind, the salary offered can be outside of the range posted.
