The Opportunity

The results-driven Senior Financial Analyst will assist in the company's core financial operations across all MZ operating companies, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of consolidated financial reporting, investor reports and financial planning and analysis (“FP&A”). With a fundamental focus on reporting and FP&A, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving, financial analysis, and organizational skills to uphold the accuracy and integrity of all company financial information.

Reporting to the Controller, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with Finance department members and other departments as needed to improve existing processes, drive financial initiatives, and support key business decisions. In this hybrid role, the Senior Financial Analyst will support both the Controller (Financial Reporting) and the Director, Finance (FP&A), contributing to financial policies, procedures, and department controls, as well as key forecast deliverables, KPI metrics and the maintenance of MZ's core financial models. This is a dynamic and challenging role with opportunities for growth in scope and responsibility over time. This position is a new vacancy.

The Role

Financial Reporting

  • Consolidated monthly financial reporting and analysis.
  • Month-end closure and reconciliation activities.
  • Balance sheet integrity (investments, receivables, allowances, deferred revenue, etc.).
  • Corporate accounting and accrual entries across multiple subsidiaries in accordance with ASPE.
  • Annual NTR, corporate tax, and financial audit support.
  • Federal and Provincial filing and taxation activities (T5 statements, HST filings, EHT filings, CRA access and filings, etc.).
  • Assist in the Treasury process through banking and payment approvals.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Bi-weekly cash and revenue forecasts.
  • Monthly Management KPI reporting and analysis.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual budget to actual analysis.
  • Maintain and develop the corporate financial model.

Investor Reporting & Analysis

  • Net Asset Value (NAV) reporting and analysis.
  • Investment performance statements and analysis.
  • Investment performance statement inquiries and contact management.
  • Support the integrity of the in-house loan management system.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive professional work experience.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or pending designation, with a background in public accounting.
  • Proven financial acumen, analytical skills, problem solving, organization, and a commitment to high standards of financial integrity.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines with no impact to quality of work.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments.
  • A desire to pursue a challenging career in real estate finance.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain a mortgage agent license through FSRA (paid for by the company).

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in real estate lending, mortgage administration or financial services, or similar industries, either directly or through working with clients.
  • Experience with large data sets and tools (Power BI, Power Query).
  • Financial consolidation, elimination, and reporting experience.
  • Experience with NetSuite accounting software.

Work Environment

  • MZ offices are open Monday to Friday, and employees are expected to work on site a minimum of 4 days per week, with the option of working remotely 1 day per week, as agreed to by the direct supervisor.

Salary

$80,000 - $90,000 annually based on experience, plus bonus eligibility.
