Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Accounting Manager to join our Finance team and serve as the organization’s subject‑matter expert on complex accounting matters. The role will play a critical part in Magnet's growth by leading technical research, develop accounting policies, support strategic business initiatives, and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls. This position is ideal for a detail‑oriented leader who thrives in a fast‑paced tech environment and enjoys partnering cross‑functionally to solve complex problems.

What You'll Do

  • Technical Accounting & Policy Development
  • Lead technical research on complex transactions including revenue recognition (ASC 606), stock‑based compensation, leases (ASC 842), business combinations, consolidation, and software capitalization.
  • Draft, update, and maintain company-wide accounting policies, memos, and documentation.
  • Monitor emerging accounting standards and evaluate their impact on the business; drive adoption and implementation.
  • Revenue Recognition (ASC 606)
  • Evaluate customer contracts, product offerings, and Go-To-Market models for proper revenue treatment.
  • Partner with Sales, Product, and Legal to review deal structures and new product launches.
  • Support system implementations and controls related to revenue recognition.
  • Provide guidance on new product launches, pricing models, and contract terms from an accounting perspective.
  • Ensure proper monthly recognition of revenue.
  • Financial Reporting
  • Oversee preparation of technical accounting disclosures for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
  • Support financial statement preparation, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
  • Partner with external auditors to manage audit requests, provide narrative support, and ensure timely completion of audit activities.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Assist in improving accounting processes and controls, particularly around revenue, software development, and equity.
  • Support system implementations and enhancements related to ERP, billing, revenue automation, and workflow tools.
  • Mentor and develop team members, promoting a culture of learning and accuracy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in revenue accounting, public accounting, or technology/ SaaS environments
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP; deep understanding of revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrated experience operating within a controlled close environment, with a clear understanding of documentation standards, review requirements, and audit evidence.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large, detailed datasets in support of reconciliations and audit requests.
  • High degree of ownership, attention to detail, and judgment required to operate effectively in a high growth, scaling technology environment
  • Proven ability to partner cross‑functionally (Sales, Legal, FP&A, Customer Success, and Operations) while maintaining strong accounting governance and control discipline.

Nice to Have Skills

  • CPA designation
  • Prior experience supporting public‑company audits, PCAOB‑regulated audits, or readiness activities related to M&A or IPO
  • Exposure to SOX 404 controls, revenue control design, walkthroughs, and remediation activities.
  • Experience with subscription billing models, recurring revenue, usage‑based pricing, or multi‑element arrangements in a scaled SaaS environment.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing or optimizing ERP, billing, or revenue systems (e.g., NetSuite and Salesforce), including control considerations around system integrations and data integrity.
  • Experience drafting or reviewing revenue disclosures for quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Strong project‑management skills and ability to explain complex issues to non‑accounting teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and operate in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.

The Compensation range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (i.e. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).
