Senior UI Designer
Magnet Forensics
Responsibilities:
- Lead UI and Interaction Design Process: Design and refine user interfaces and interactions from concept through wire-framing, prototyping, and usability testing, ensuring usability and consistency with product requirements and user needs.
- User Research & Testing: Perform usability testing to inform design decisions and improve the user experience.
- Divergent thinking and ideation: Proactively generate and explore a wide range of UI and interaction design ideas, naturally considering multiple options during the design process.
- Critical reasoning: Challenge assumptions and rigorously evaluate multiple design solutions and justify choices with clear, logical reasoning using both qualitative and quantitative evidence.
- Experiment-focused designs: Rapidly prototype small experiments for hypothesis testing and iterative design cycles. Break down the ideal experience into minimal, testable slices for validation.
- Design Artifacts: Create various design artifacts, including wireframes storyboards, user flows, sitemaps, and prototypes.
- Design System: Contribute to the development and maintenance of our design system and style guides to ensure consistency across our platform and products.
- Collaborative: Work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and business requirements into intuitive and functional designs.
- Team growth: Actively participate in team design critiques and feedback sessions, sharing knowledge and expertise to elevate the quality of UI solutions across the team.
- Advocacy: Champion the user’s needs and advocate for user-centered design practices within the company.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, conduct competitive analysis, and explore new approaches to UX design and testing.
- Communication: Articulate the reasoning behind design choices to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Travel: 5-10% (e.g. Visiting customer sites, attending conferences, etc.).
Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma in UI Design, Digital Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of UI design experience (including creating solutions for web and desktop applications.).
- Data Driven: Proven experience in working with quantitative data, including defining key metrics to track and deriving actionable insights from the results.
- Design Leadership: Proven experience in UI design, including leadership or senior-level roles.
- Visual Communication: Demonstrated ability to clearly convey ideas, concepts, and design intent through visual means to ensure information is easily understood by users and stakeholders.
- Visual Design Principles: Strong grasp of foundational visual design principles—including figure-ground, grouping, hierarchy, and Gestalt laws—to create clear, intuitive, and visually engaging user interfaces.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and present design solutions.
- Problem-solving: Proven ability to identify UI challenges and craft visually compelling, user-centered interface solutions that enhance usability, accessibility, and consistency across digital products.
- Adaptability: Capable of quickly learning and adapting to new technologies.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience designing for accessibility and inclusivity, adhering to WCAG standards.
- Experience using AI-powered prototyping tools (e.g. vibe coding) to accelerate design workflows. Able to assess when and how to apply these tools effectively while maintaining the integrity of the UI design process.

Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills. If the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (ie. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary + variable).
- MIN: $111,300 - MID: $159,000 - MAX: $190,800 CAD
