Machobear Studios is an established tech start-up based in Vancouver. We are the creators of liv.rent, an all-in-one platform that connects tenants with landlords. In addition to developing and maintaining our platform, we work on a variety of exciting projects for clients across real estate and food industries, providing innovative tech solutions that meet their unique needs.

We are looking for an Intermediate Full Stack Developer with a strong front-end foundation and growing backend experience. This role is ideal for someone who can independently deliver features across the stack while continuing to deepen their system design and backend skills.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Design, develop, and implement front-end and back-end features for web and mobile applications.
• Own features end-to-end with guidance, from implementation through deployment and maintenance.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Build and consume RESTful APIs and integrate front-end applications with backend services.
• Develop and maintain backend services using Node.js and relational databases.
• Ensure performance, reliability, and basic security best practices across the full stack.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving code quality and maintainability.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and optimize applications in development and production environments.
• Participate in feature planning and estimation, providing technical input to support delivery timelines.

What You Bring to Us:

• 3+ years of professional experience in software development.
• Strong experience with ReactJS and/or React Native using modern patterns.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Minimum 2+ years of hands-on backend development experience in production environments.
• Backend experience with Node.js and API development (REST).
• Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., Elasticsearch, Redis).
• Strong appreciation for clean, maintainable architecture and sound system design.
• Experience optimizing performance and debugging issues across frontend and backend codebases.
• Understanding of basic authentication, authorization, and web security concepts.
• Experience writing and maintaining automated tests as part of everyday development.
• Demonstrated ability to operate with autonomy, take ownership, and deliver features end-to-end.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.
