Join our team as our next UXUI Designer. Machobear Studios is growing and we are always looking for talented individuals with a strong background in crafting intuitive solutions for web platforms and applications to join our expanding team. You’ll do well in this position if you are a problem solver, adaptable, thrive in a fast-paced environment and have strong communication skills.

Who Are We?

Machobear Studios is an established tech start-up based in Vancouver. We are the creators of liv.rent, a platform that connects tenants with landlords. Our mission is to build a trusted rental community and eliminate the stress and uncertainty of renting.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on product goals and deliverables
  • Address design challenges with intuitive solutions that balance user needs, technical limitations and business goals
  • Develop visually compelling designs that align with the brand's identity and enhance the overall user experience
  • Contribute to the design and maintenance of design systems to ensure consistency across all products
  • Adopt and execute various rapid prototyping methodologies
  • Communicate with stakeholders and clients on product design development
  • Research, implement and share best design and development practices with the team
  • Conduct user research, competitive analysis, and market research to analyze insights and use data to inform design decisions

What You Bring Us:

  • 4+ years of UXUI Design experience
  • Proficiency in Figma or similar design tools such as Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently, with strong attention to detail and eye for design
  • Demonstrated experience in taking ownership of product features from conception to development and beyond
  • Familiarity in implementing web accessibility standards and following WCAG guidelines
  • Ability to organize website content and navigation that enhances usability (“Information Architecture”)
  • Experience with responsive design and ensuring that websites adapt to different devices
  • Deep understanding of design principles and best practices (Colour theory, typography, etc)
  • Understanding user needs, behaviours and preferences
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data from user testing and various research methods
  • Experience in developing and maintaining design systems

Bonus:

  • Experience designing solutions for e-commerce and checkout flows
  • Familiarity with A/B testing to improve conversions and engagement
  • Basic knowledge of frontend development (CSS, JS, React)
