At Lufa Farms, we’re on a mission to create a better food system by growing food where people live and growing it more sustainably. To do this, we built the world’s first commercial rooftop greenhouse and partner with hundreds of local farms and food makers to offer fresh, local, responsible food to our customers across Quebec. To continue changing the way people in cities around the world eat, we’re looking for someone thrilled by the idea of improving the current food system to become our Procurement Manager.
The Procurement Manager is responsible for inventory management and sourcing all indirect spend categories that support the operations of our greenhouses, indoor farm, distribution centre, and offices. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, the Procurement Manager will be tasked with improving and building upon our sourcing strategy and processes. They’ll coach and mentor a small team of procurement coordinators to assist in their professional development.
Responsibilities:
Management
Motivate, develop, and lead a team of procurement coordinators, providing training and fostering continuous growth;
Provide coaching and mentoring to improve the team’s negotiation strategies and skills.
Analysis and control
Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions and inventory levels;
Monitor inventory levels and ensure that stock levels are maintained to meet operational requirements;
Monitor and report on KPIs, including stock levels, lead times, stock turn rates, and order fulfillment accuracy;
Understand each department's budget, monitor expenditures, anticipate changes in demand, and proactively raise red flags when budget deviations or supply constraints are anticipated;
Continuously evaluate and update supplier database to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing;
Monitor supplier performance to ensure that contractual obligations are met.
Processes optimization
Improve and develop the company’s sourcing policies;
Develop key inventory performance indicators (KPIs) to track team and supplier performance to maximize cost savings;
Optimize purchasing and inventory processes by researching and proposing strategies to improve efficiency and profitability;
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements in procurement operations;
Develop supplier management processes, including scheduling and leading meetings with major suppliers and managing supplier onboarding;
Lead the development of annual sourcing strategies to identify and prioritize procurement initiatives, analyze market trends, assess supplier capabilities, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
Collaborative work
Collaborate with the procurement team and managers to improve inventory tracking processes - automating where possible;
Work with senior management and other departments to foster a culture of compliance and ensure procurement activities are aligned with departmental budgets and company policies;
Ensure high levels of satisfaction among internal stakeholders by understanding their needs, providing timely procurement solutions, and maintaining open communication channels;
Provide feedback to department managers regarding inventory tracking and help develop performance metrics.
Requirements:
At least five years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management for a large company with multiple sites;
Effective communicator in French and English, both oral and written;
Demonstrated experience in personnel coaching and management;
Excels at developing sourcing strategies and implementing processes;
Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers;
Familiarity with inventory management systems and procurement software (NetSuite is an asset, Google Suite is a must);
Experience in managing international supplier relationships and an understanding of import regulations and logistics.
Schedule:
Full-time (40 hours per week).
