The Opportunity:

As Ledn’s Spain Compliance Officer, you will help build and maintain ownership of Ledn’s Spain compliance program, which encompasses Ledn’s anti-money laundering/financial crimes (AML/FC), data protection and other compliance requirements in Spain. You will work alongside Ledn’s global compliance team.

This opportunity is for a proactive and strategic thinker who thrives in a dynamic, fast-evolving regulatory landscape for digital assets. You have a strong background in regulatory compliance, AML/FC, and corporate governance, and you are motivated to build and operate in an environment where agility and risk-based decision-making are key. You are equally comfortable setting strategy as you are rolling up your sleeves to execute, making you both a leader and a hands-on problem solver.

This full time role will dual report to Ledn’s VP, Head of Compliance as well as General Manager, Spain to ensure alignment between Ledn’s global compliance strategy and local operational execution. You must be located and legally able to work in Spain.

About the Role:

Anti-Money Laundering / Financial Crimes

  • Act as Ledn EEC, S.L. (“Ledn Spain”)’s AML Representative to SEPBLAC pursuant to Ledn Spain’s obligation as a VASP included in the Bank of Spain’s Register of providers engaged in exchange services between virtual currencies and fiat currencies and custodian wallet providers
  • Owner of Ledn Spain’s AML policies and procedures and supervise compliance thereunder
  • Review and log internal SARs relating to Spain clients escalated from Ledn’s internal AML team
  • Any required external reporting to SEPBLAC pursuant to Law 10/2010, of 28 April 2010, on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing

Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA)

  • Act as Ledn Spain’s compliance officer during its crypto-asset service provider (CASP) authorisation process pursuant to the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), including appearing before the Spanish National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) during any required meetings
  • Work with external counsel and regulatory consultants in setting up Ledn Spain’s compliance program under MiCA

Data Protection

  • Act as Ledn Spain’s Data Protection Officer and act as a contact point for the Supervisory Authorities on issues relating to data processing operations
  • Work with external counsel to inform and advise the company (including Ledn’s internal technology, data and information security teams) of its obligations under applicable Data Protection Regulations (i.e. GPDR and Spain's data protection law, Organic Law 3/2018, of 5 December, on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (“LOPDGDD”))
  • Supervise Ledn Spain’s compliance with the Data Protection Regulations and the policies of Ledn Spain with regard to data protection
  • Provide advice as required in relation to Data Protection Impact Assessments and monitor their implementation

Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA)

  • Work with external counsel and Ledn’s internal technology, data and information security teams on the development/implementation of a DORA compliance program

Must Haves:

  • 8+ years of experience in Spain AML/CTF regulatory framework (including risk assessment, reporting obligations, and regulatory examinations), as well as with laws and regulations surrounding consumer protection, data privacy and cybersecurity
  • Proven experience building and executing risk-based compliance programs and best practices in corporate governance, including AML/FC, data protection and corporate governance
  • Proven experience interfacing with regulators and managing regulatory audits, inquiries, and examinations
  • Remarkable ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product
  • You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where agility and adaptability are key, and you understand how to navigate and manage the risks associated with such an environment
  • You are a self-starter with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
  • You are excited about the future of digital assets and blockchain technology
  • Fluent in Spanish and English

Nice To Have:

  • Experience with fintech or digital asset compliance licensing, including regulatory engagement
  • CAMS Certification
