The role:
The Director, Controller is a critical member of the Finance Leadership team. You will be responsible for managing our accounting, financial reporting and the financial control environment. This will include oversight and guidance of the many financial processes needed to report on business progress.
As the Director, Controller, you are an excellent communicator - able to interpret financial results and tell a concise story to a range of different stakeholders. You are also able to digest and organize differing data sets and communicate findings and recommendations in a concise manner.
The Director, Controller will grow, develop and inspire our growing Finance team and be a catalyst in transformation, helping to lift the Finance department to the next level as our business scales. You will directly support both the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams with recommendations and decisions across a breadth of strategic priorities, technical topics and complex transactions.

In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the SVP, Accounting, Finance Operations & Tax with technical guidance and research across a breadth of complex transactions, as needed.
- Completing detailed reviews of new contracts and making software revenue recognition recommendations.
- Leading our monthly financial close and reporting processes, ensuring accurate results are finalized by monthly deadlines.
- Managing day to day cash and treasury management as well as planning and executing strategies to optimize our capital.
- Providing guidance and support to teams managing accounts payable, collections, billing, sales tax, and payroll processes.
- Reviewing and monitoring our consolidated balance sheet which entails tracking, reporting and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Monitoring and improving internal control processes (including our financial systems).
- Supporting the SVP with general corporate tax planning work across both Canada, the United States and International.
- Managing annual financial year-end audits in both Canada and the UK.
- Leading and growing the team, with a focus on development and maintaining a high-performance team.
- Being a strong voice on the Finance Senior Leadership Team by collaborating cross-functionally and building productive relationships at all levels of the company.
- Advising and driving improvement across ad hoc projects related to external reporting, taxation and international operations.
- Driving automation and system improvements to scale the Finance function, as appropriate.
About you:
- 7+ years of experience in a progressive financial leadership role, with at least 3 years in a senior-level role.
- Experience in a SaaS environment.
- CPA, CA (CAD) designation. Strong technical, research, problem-solving and collaboration skills; including strong knowledge of IFRS. Experience working with US GAAP and emerging accounting issues is a bonus.
- A track record that demonstrates the ability to evolve quickly, influence others, and execute in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- A passion for quantifying and story-telling results to our executive team and board members.
- Experience managing financial systems, preferably for Netsuite.
- Knowledge of financial regulations in multiple jurisdictions throughout North America and other global locations.

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for base salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Where in the band you may land is determined by job-related skills/experience.
