Today, we offer timely and personalized therapy for individuals, couples, families, group therapy, and psychological assessments. Since our founding in 2019, our platform has facilitated the delivery of 100,000 therapy sessions with the support of over 400 licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, and Psychotherapists across four provinces in Canada.
Layla Care is seeking a market and business development professional to join our small and fast-growing team. The candidate will lead the enhancement and growth of Layla’s relationships with the Primary Care community, including family doctors, other health practitioners, and health administrators.
Your Role and Responsibility
We follow a quarterly planning process and agile work methodology, setting clear accountabilities while maintaining collaboration. Your success will be defined by the strength of the relationships you create and maintain with Primary Care. You can expect your role to be varied and evolve over time, generally including the following:
Primary Care Outreach
- Own the Peel and Halton regions, West Toronto, and other areas as needed.
- Execute a market development strategy to create awareness about Layla’s services to Primary Care practitioners.
- Create awareness and collaborate with practitioners through communication channels such as phone, email, fax, meetings, and site visits.
- Plan and conduct educational sessions at small and large clinics to increase Layla’s visibility, and educate practitioners about our mental health supports.
- Responsible for securing and scheduling meetings with clinics to host educational sessions.
Relationship Management
- Build and nurture new relationships while maintaining strong connections with existing partners.
- Collaborate with GPs on innovative ideas, and be the main liaison for any service related questions.
- Work collaboratively with the team on shared goals, while focusing on your assigned region.
Events and Conferences
- Facilitate outreach initiatives for the Primary Care community, such as our Mental Health First Aid initiative.
- Organize and attend conferences, educational events, and other networking opportunities related to mental healthcare and primary care.
- Be prepared for non-traditional working hours to accommodate events and conferences.
Process and Product Development
- Work within an iterative approach based on data and insights; You will work with the team to review and tweak your strategies periodically (e.g. every two weeks) based on market and operational insights. This process allows us to continuously refine and improve scalable approaches, using data-driven decision-making for engaging the Primary Care community.
- Collaborate with the tech team to develop tools for managing relationships with Primary Care providers more efficiently.

- Participate in team-based initiatives and projects that align with Layla’s growth priorities.
Professional Experience and Qualities
- Education: Undergraduate degree in science, business, marketing, psychology, health sciences, health management, or a related field.
- Experience: 3-8 years in Primary Care sales, business development, or other related experience (e.g., pharmaceutical sales or sales management roles).
- Proven ability to drive market development strategies and establish strong relationships with healthcare professionals.
- Exceptional written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Dependable with a track record of being practical and getting things done on time.
- Proactive with a growth mindset.
- Team-oriented and inclusive, promoting a welcoming environment.
- You contribute to projects, both in lead and support capacities.
- Given the dynamic nature of our team, this role is for someone who can handle context switching well and thrives with open communication.
- Responsive and highly communicative.
- Tech-savvy, with experience using tools like Salesforce to streamline workflows.

Location & Logistical Requirements
- Must be located within commuting distance to the Peel and Halton regions
- Approximately 60-80% of your time will involve field work such as visiting doctors’ clinics, and building relationships in your region.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required. Mileage expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policies.
- Flexibility to work outside traditional business hours for events, conferences, and outreach activities.
- Access to a private, quiet, and confidential workspace for remote work.
- High-speed internet and a mobile phone are required.
- Layla provides a work computer, and a monthly stipend for personal device use.
