About The Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to join our team for a remote role based in Canada.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing robust data pipelines, and integrating various data sources and systems. This role requires collaboration with internal teams including data analytics, data science, and business intelligence to ensure seamless data flow and accessibility. More than just understanding the strategic importance of data in a financial context, you’re eager to roll up your sleeves and build the infrastructure to support it. Reporting to the Senior Development Manager, you will be part of a team that maintains and expands KOHO’s data engineering platform.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Practicing the KOHO values
  • Gathering requirements for and implementing streaming and batch pipelines
  • Supporting business users, Data Analyst, and Data Scientists in questions related to our data platform
  • Implementing shared infrastructure used by all services and teams within the KOHO platform
  • Contributing to and improving our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices
  • Participating in rotating on-call duties, including incident managementDeveloping a network outside of your team

Who You Are

  • Someone who has a minimum of 3 years of experience working with data as well as:
    • Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Terraform, and Bash scripting
    • AWS Cloud-based services (Glue, Redshift, Lambda)Orchestration tools (Airflow, Luigi)
    • Logging, Monitoring, and Alerting tools (DataDog, PagerDuty)
    • Experience solving problems and resolving outages in a large-scale production environmentNice to have:
    • AWS Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect and/or Data Engineering
  • Someone passionate about learning and acquiring a deep understanding of data-driven use cases.

At KOHO, we are dedicated to providing pay transparency to all candidates. Compensation at KOHO is determined through various factors including but not limited to: comparable salary market data within Canada, technical skill assessment, a holistic view of previous work history, and internal pay equity with other KOHO team members.

Target Base Salary Range
$110,000$125,000 CAD
