About The Role

We’re looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to join our team for a role to work remotely based in Canada.

Reporting to Software Development Manager, you’re going to be a part of a team that

  • Builds flagships credit products for more than 1 million of our users
  • Builds a credit platform work that functions our credit products
  • Scales & makes our systems more efficient and reliable
  • Supports and makes sure that our users has the best possible experience

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Be the technical leader the team needs, you enable other engineers to be more effective, whether via direct relationships, or via the quality of your work.
  • Be project lead for complex medium to large size projects, ensure project delivery meets expectations for our users and the business.
  • Guiding our technical roadmap towards engineering excellence, making our systems more reliable, more efficient & scaling to the increasing needs of our users.
  • Doing POCs, gathering systems inputs, building dashboard, making data-driven decisions to better our domains, systems & the business.
  • Fostering cross-team collaboration, being a part of building a healthy engineering culture.

Who You Are

  • You have solid Golang skills, or an equivalent experience in a related language and are ready/eager to learn Go.
  • You have experience at building reliable/scalable distributed systems, have track records of making, owning complex systems in the past.
  • You demonstrate technical leadership qualities during your previous/current role, a plus if you have been in a leadership role before.
  • You are keenly user-focused, a plus if you have worked with financial products before.
  • You care deeply about quality, but are able to find the balance between quality vs velocity.
  • You love working on hard problems, owning the technical solutions from ideation to completion, you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty, ready to jump into coding and make the magic happen.
  • You work well in a distributed team/remote environment, being mostly independent but will be hands-on when the situation requires.

Compensation at KOHO is determined through various factors including but not limited to: comparable salary market data within Canada, technical skill assessment, a holistic view of previous work history, and internal pay equity with other KOHO team members.

Target Base Salary Range
$170,000$210,000 CAD
