Responsibilities
- Merchandising Strategy:
- Develop seasonal merchandising strategies and line plans informed by sales performance, historical data, and market trends.
- Conduct market and competitive research to identify emerging opportunities, whitespace, and shifts in consumer behaviour.
- Optimize product mix by category, size, colour, and price point to maximize sales, margin, and inventory efficiency.
- Partner with commercial teams to ensure cohesive product presentation and a consistent brand experience across all channels.
- Monitor in-season performance to adjust strategies and inform future planning.
- Assortment Planning & Buying:
- Build cohesive assortments that reflect Knix’s brand identity and meet the needs of the target customer.
- Partner cross-functionally to align on seasonal priorities, key stories, and product launch timelines.
- Ensure assortments are commercially balanced across style, function, and innovation to drive growth across core and new categories.
- Support execution of product launches through clear line architecture, pricing, and storytelling alignment.
- Develop and implement strategic buying plans to achieve sales, margin, and inventory turnover targets.
- Pricing & Promotions:
- Establish competitive pricing strategies that drive sales and margin growth while maintaining brand integrity.
- Collaborate with planning, brand, and commercial teams to execute promotional campaigns and markdown strategies.
- Analyze pricing and promotional performance to identify optimization opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner closely with design, planning, sourcing, brand, and commercial teams to align merchandising initiatives with business goals.
- Provide product insights to support marketing campaigns, seasonal launches, and merchandising presentations.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and develop the Buying team to grow the Knix business profitably and strategically.
- Foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and development opportunities to build bench strength.
- Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or related roles, preferably within apparel or retail.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in retail math, including sales forecasting, margin analysis, and inventory management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams.
- Creative thinker with a passion for staying ahead of market trends and understanding consumer behaviour.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with merchandising software or retail planning systems.
- Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment.
