We are continuing to grow our Retail business here at Knix! With 15 stores across North America, roughly 500 employees projected to be in our Retail business by the end of 2023, and the ambition to open many more in the future, we are looking for a strong & dynamic People Operations (HR) Business Partner, Retail to help support our growth journey in this channel.
As a People Operations (HR) Business Partner for Retail, you will work closely with business leaders to develop and execute HR strategies focused on employee relations, organizational effectiveness and performance management. Working alongside a talented People Team, you will have autonomy over your retail portfolio. You will be responsible for partnering and coaching Retail Leaders (Regional Managers, Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers etc) on key HR initiatives. About the Role:

  • Conducts weekly and monthly meetings with key stakeholders, building strong relationships with Store Managers, Regional Managers and other functional partners.
  • Collaborates closely with the People Operations Specialist to ensure a strong service level is provided to the portfolio and with the SR Business Partner, HQ and Business Partner, HQ to ensure consistency in elevating the employee experience across Knix.
  • Actively contributes to the deployment and continuous improvement of HR programs, policies, and procedures in partnership with the People Team and Retail leaders.
  • Supports the attraction, development and retention of talent – partners closely with business leaders to ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time.
  • Works closely with business leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention by providing strategic guidance and sound advice to drive a culture of high performance and inclusivity.
  • Participates in the creation, execution and evaluation of training programs to ensure success.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of relevant legislation requirements and ensures regulatory compliance across our retail stores, inclusive of Health and safety.
  • Manage and resolve employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies to provide HR policy guidance and policy interpretation

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in human resources and with at least 3 years of prior experience as an HR Business Partner supporting leaders and resolving employee relations.
  • Must have previous experience in a Retail environment or experience working with an hourly population.
  • You have experience working in a scaling organizational environment with demonstrated understanding & implementation of emerging technologies and trends.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Labor laws; and additional knowledge of US, and California labour & employment laws would be an asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, influencing and collaborating with leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to manage and analyze data from multiple sources to provide recommendations & create best practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with professionalism, empathy and a high degree of discretion.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ever-changing environment; you can exercise good judgment while managing ambiguity.
Note:
Please note Knix has a hybrid work environment, with the requirement to be in our Downtown Toronto office at least 2+ days a week. Building strong relationships and collaborating internally is important to us!
