About the Role

We are seeking a Data Engineer with strong skills in SQL and Python to join our growing data team. You will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines, ensuring that data flows smoothly across systems and is ready for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications. This is a fully remote role, with preference given to UK timezone, working with a global team in multiple time zones.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to process large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Write efficient and optimized SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading.
• Build automation scripts and tools in Python to streamline data processing and integration tasks.
• Collaborate with analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable and timely datasets.
• Maintain and optimize databases and data warehouses (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Implement data quality checks, validation, and monitoring to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for data storage, orchestration, and deployment.
• Contribute to data architecture decisions and documentation.

Requirements:

• 2–3 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL (advanced joins, window functions, query optimization).
• Solid experience with Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
• Experience with ETL frameworks, data pipelines, or workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Luigi, Prefect).
• Understanding of relational databases, data warehousing, and data modeling concepts.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and data services (e.g., S3, BigQuery, Redshift).
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with streaming frameworks (Kafka, Spark, Flink).
• Exposure to business intelligence tools (Metabase, Looker, Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with machine learning pipelines or MLOps practices.
