The Product Strategy & Funding Specialist plays a key role in shaping the next generation of eCAMION’s EV charging and energy storage products. The role focuses on product strategy, market development, grants, and funding programs that support our technology roadmap.
This is a strategy-focused individual contributor role, not a day-to-day Product Manager responsible for sprint execution or backlog ownership. Over time, this position offers growth toward Product Strategy, Product Management, or Commercial Strategy leadership.
Key Responsibilities
1. Product Development & Strategy
- Identify gaps between market needs and eCAMION’s current hardware, software, and service offerings.
- Propose and maintain high-level product and feature roadmaps considering technical feasibility and commercial impact.
- Track and interpret regulatory and standards requirements (e.g., OCPP, UL/IEC, utility interconnection rules, metering and measurement standards).
- Identify new markets, segments, and applications (e.g., fleet depots, hubs, microgrids, C&I sites) and develop high-level product concepts and go-to-market approaches.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, engineering, and operations to ensure strategic priorities are reflected in product lifecycle decisions.
2. Funding, Grants & Strategic Support
- Support technical due diligence for strategic sales, project financing, and capital raises (equity or debt).
- Prepare technical materials, investment decks, and data room documentation.
- Identify and evaluate relevant grants, incentives, and funding programs (federal, provincial, utility, impact-investors).
- Shape project concepts aligned with program requirements in collaboration with engineering, product, finance, and operations.
- Draft and coordinate grant applications, including technical narratives, workplans, budgets, deliverables, risks, and impact statements.
- Track application status, key deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting obligations across multiple programs.
What You Will Gain
- Exposure to real-world EV charging, energy storage, and grid-interactive infrastructure deployments.
- Hands-on experience in product strategy, grants, capital raise support, and technical due diligence.
- Opportunities to influence long-term product direction and contribute to high-impact projects.
- Professional development in a collaborative, innovative, and mission-driven clean-tech organization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Software, Industrial, Systems Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related technical field.
- 4–7 years of experience in product management, product strategy, solutions engineering, technical business development, or technical program management in a hardware/software or infrastructure environment (e.g., power systems, EV charging, grid, telecom, IoT).
- Ability to be conversant in power electronics, firmware/embedded systems, and edge/cloud software architectures.
- Experience conducting market and competitive analyses and translating insights into product or solution positioning and roadmap proposals.
- Comfort working with high-level financial and project models (ROI, payback, scenario and sensitivity analysis).
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify and investigate root causes and recommend solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to write structured, persuasive documents (proposals, grant applications, investment memos, technical submissions).
- Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, sales, finance, and operations.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple parallel projects and deadlines.
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada (international applicants must provide proof of valid work permit).
Preferred
- Experience in EV charging, energy storage, power systems, grid modernization, or related clean-tech sectors.
- Familiarity with OCPP, UL/IEC standards, utility interconnection requirements, or metering/measurement rules.
- Prior experience preparing or supporting government grants and incentive program applications.
- Experience supporting or participating in technical due diligence for sales, infrastructure projects, or financing rounds.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field (asset, not required).
