Role Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly focused Accounting Clerk to join our team on a full-time contract basis. The primary responsibilities of this role include managing Accounts Payable (AP) tasks and supporting the automation of both AP and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. This position involves significant data entry work and requires a high level of accuracy and efficiency. The Accounting Clerk collaborates closely with the rest of the finance team and will actively support the financial accounting function of the business.
This contract position could transition into a full-time permanent role, depending on the company's needs and the candidate's skills and performance demonstrated during the contract period.
What You Will Do:
Key accountabilities for the Accounting Clerk are as follows:
- Perform accurate and timely data entry for accounts payable transactions
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of AP and AR automation systems
- Review and reconciliation of monthly corporate credit card statements to validate transactions and integrity of statement balances
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support the accounting team with other clerical tasks as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Collaborate with the finance team to improve overall process efficiency
Your Skills and Knowledge:
- Candidates with experience in SAGE and NAV are preferred; however, training will be provided
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient at mathematics
- Willingness to work amidst constantly changing priorities and workflow
- Ability to multitask and operate under pressure
- Problem-solving capability
- Positive team contributor
- Passion and curiosity for continuous process improvement
- Ability to learn and quickly adapt to new processes
We require:
- High school diploma; Post-secondary diploma/degree in Accounting or Business is preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- 0-1 year working experience in an accounting setting
Location:
This is a hybrid role with regular onsite requirements (once per quarter, and additional days as requested by manager) at our Brantford and/or Toronto, Ontario offices. You must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
