The People & Culture (P&C) Intern will play a supporting role in the delivery of an enriching employee journey for all Interac team members. Reporting to the Head, Total Rewards, you will have the opportunity to further your development by providing day-to-day support for various projects and initiatives within the Employee Journeys team. The intern will have an opportunity to learn and participate in employee engagement, onboarding, training, and development and more! This role also provides a hands-on opportunity to develop a foundational understanding of how organizations design and manage competitive rewards strategies.
You’ll be responsible for:
Assisting with general P&C programs and initiatives, including the organization and execution on in-person and virtual DEI events, employee onboarding and facilities adhoc needs
Responding to employee inquiries, monitoring shared inbox according to preset service level agreements
Preparing post DEI event feedback reports
Researching, analyzing, and maintaining information systems in support of DEI Managing the centralized DEI intranet, calendar, inbox and Microsoft Teams channels
Assisting with creating communications to acknowledge days of significance
Supporting the P&C team in their day-to-day partnerships with business client groups
Support planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives and campaigns led by Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).
Assist in creating and reviewing benefits and recognition program related communication materials (e.g., newsletters, FAQs, intranet content).
Contribute to documentation of data required for job evaluation in alignment with internal frameworks.
Assist with job description inventory and management.
Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment in communications and documentation.
You bring:
You are studying Human Resources, Organizational Behaviour, Psychology, Business, Administration, Psychology, Social Work
Solid verbal, written and analytical communication skills. You are able to articulate and organize your thoughts succinctly
Proven time management and organization skills. You are able to prioritize and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines
You have proven experience being trusted to handle sensitive tasks and conversations with confidentiality and discretion
Understanding that success is in the details – You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills and ability to problem solve help to inform your decision making
Able to be flexible especially in re-setting the priorities
Understand diversity, equity, and inclusion
Relationship-building and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop trust and confidence, work effectively and collaborative with individuals across multiple functions and levels
Ability to interpret data and identify trends
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel, Power BI, MS Teams) with preference for working knowledge of Excel
Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:
A self-starter mindset with a drive for continuous learning and desire to understand what motivates people and how to engage diverse individuals
Knowledge in Workday or a similar human resources information system
Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days on-site)
Location: Toronto
Term: September to December 2025
Duration: Monday – Friday
