Operational Readiness, Lead
At Interac, we design and deliver products and solutions that give Canadians control over their money so they can get more out of life. But that’s not all. Whether we’re leading real-time money movement, driving innovative commerce solutions like open payments for transit systems, or making advancements in new areas like verification and open banking, we are playing a key role in shaping the future of the digital economy in Canada.
Want to make a lasting impact amongst a community of creative thinkers, problem solvers, technical virtuosos and high-performance application developers? We want to hear from you.
We are seeking an experienced Operations Readiness, Lead to ensure our mission-critical Fraud platform is production-ready from an operational perspective, prior to launch. This role acts as the bridge between development, AppOps/SRE, infrastructure, security, and support teams—focusing on resilience, observability, runbooks, alerting, and incident response preparedness from day one. The successful candidate will drive readiness assessments, standardize operational practices, and embed reliability into the development lifecycle.
You will be instrumental in embedding operational readiness throughout the delivery lifecycle, enabling seamless go-live execution and long-term operational sustainability.
You'll be responsible for:
Owning the operational readiness strategy for the new Fraud product, ensuring successful transitions to production
Developing and enforcing readiness checklists, including monitoring, logging, alerting, failover strategies, SLIs/SLOs, and runbooks
Partnering with AppOps SREs, product engineers, and fraud SMEs to proactively validate observability dashboards, runbooks, and alerting
Conducting Operational Readiness Reviews (ORRs), chaos drills, and production simulations prior to launch
Driving the creation of incident response playbooks specific to fraud platform services
Supporting the integration of operational readiness with other dependent applications (Real Time Rails)
Collaborating with platform and cloud teams to ensure infrastructure-as-code, deployment patterns, and rollback strategies align with fraud system criticality
Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and learning through Failure Isolation & Recovery of Errors (FIRE) postmortems and readiness retrospectives
Championing operational automation - reducing toil through tooling, self-healing scripts, and shift-left reliability practices
Defining and tracking KPIs (Customer Journey Success) that measure operational maturity and launch health
Ensuring the operational framework for the Fraud product is aligned with the organization’s broader product operations, promoting standardization, improving issue attribution, and enabling Level 1 support to accurately triage and route incidents to the right teams
Playing a key role in embedding the Fraud product into the organization’s Central Command Center model, ensuring unified visibility, incident flow, and team accountability
Overseeing knowledge management deliverables, ensuring required operational documentation (runbooks, escalation paths, FAQs, service definitions, etc.) is developed by technical writers in partnership with SMEs and available prior to launch
You bring:
5+ years in SRE, DevOps, or technical operations roles supporting production systems
Experience leading go-live or operational readiness for high-stakes, real-time systems (ideally fraud, risk, or payments platforms)
Strong understanding of production observability
CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure management
Excellent cross-functional communication and program coordination skills
Demonstrated success driving operations-readiness initiatives end-to-end
Familiarity with service-level objectives (SLOs), chaos engineering, or incident management practices
Experience working in hybrid cloud or cloud-native environments (AWS, GCP, etc.)
Nice to have:
AWS Certifications: AWS Certified Database Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer
Experience with data warehousing and analytics platforms
Knowledge of ETL processes and tools
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools
ITIL or other relevant certifications in database management and operations
Prior experience supporting fraud detection or real-time decisioning systems in financial services, fintech, or e-commerce
