Supporting the Innovation Exploration group, there is an opportunity for an intern to participate in the development and delivery of a series of Innovation Practice offering roll-outs that are focused on fostering a culture of innovation within Interac. The opportunity includes contributing to the development and launch of innovation events and crowdsourcing initiatives as well as interactive, co-creation sessions with diverse groups from across Interac and our partners and ecosystems.

This position requires a blend of strategic and analytical mindset, with the ability to structure and organize; therefore, the successful candidate must have a sense of curiosity, creativity and resourcefulness with a willingness to fluidly approach the problem statement.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Contributing to management of our Open Innovation Platform, including designing and launching challenges.

  • Participating in the design and development of an Innovation Hackathon Event.

  • Supporting the team in the Interac Studio by supporting in the design and delivery of co-creation workshops

  • Assisting in the development of content for the Innovation Practice Hub space, including creating engaging and informative materials that promote innovation practices

  • Shadowing Innovation Exploration team members during product engagement conversations, providing support in the development of Proof of Concept proposals

  • Conduct thorough research to gather and analyze data, providing accurate benchmarks that inform decision-making and strategic planning

  • Frame and communicate complex problems into clear, understandable concepts – presenting these ideas to internal teams

You bring:

  • Conduct comprehensive research and present findings clearly and effectively, contributing valuable insights to the team.

  • Ability to organize a complex event-based project by keeping many moving pieces on track in parallel

  • Knowledge of design thinking methods and techniques to support the problem solving and solutioning efforts of our teams

  • Utilize creative thinking to generate innovative solutions and ideas, enhancing project outcomes and driving innovation

  • You are a storyteller – you feel comfortable communicating complex concepts using various creative storytelling methods

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in creating compelling PowerPoint presentations.

  • Display a strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and environments, maintaining flexibility and resilience in dynamic situations.

  • Maintain attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision.

  • You are creative. You are hungry. You are a self-starter!

  • Experience working with basic Office Suite (Powerpoint, Word, Excel etc.)

  • Currently completing an undergraduate degree from a creditable Canadian institution with a focus on Design, Communications, Commerce (Marketing or Innovation focus), Information

  • Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:

    • Relationship building

    • Design thinking

    • Experience in participating in hackathon-type events

Workstyle: Hybrid (3 days on-site)

Location: Toronto

Term: May to August 2025

Duration: Monday – Friday
