As an HR Business Partner Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving HR initiatives that align with our business objectives. You will work closely with senior leadership and employees to enhance workforce performance, deliver on the people strategy, and execute workforce planning. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of HR best practices. This multi-faceted role is responsible for providing strategic partnership and delivery of HR services and programs to the organization. This includes supporting implementation of people and culture programs, policies and procedures regarding employee engagement, performance management, employee relations, training and development, compensation, and workforce planning. Your efforts will contribute to the enablement of the organization’s most important asset – its people.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, people managers and employees on HR-related matters.

  • Provide coaching to senior leadership team and people managers regarding disciplinary actions, performance management, compensation, employee relations, people and culture programs and interpretation of policies and procedures.

  • Maintain an effective level of knowledge about the client’s functional area and their business strategy, to deliver service, support, and guidance to management and employees that reflects the organization's strategic objectives.

  • Attending regular cadence of leadership meetings and proactively conducting regularly scheduled meetings with people leaders of respective client group to understand their business needs and provide HR guidance and align work accordingly.

  • Working closely with people managers and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity, engagement, and retention. Managing and resolving complex employee relations issues

  • Coach managers on effective performance management techniques that drive employee engagement and improve productivity, analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Support talent review and succession planning efforts to ensure a strong pipeline of future leaders.

  • Collaborate with recruitment teams to ensure timely and effective hiring.

  • Advise on salary benchmarking, job evaluations, and compensation reviews.

  • Support new employee onboarding process to ensure successful integration into the workplace and culture.

  • Collaborate with HR COE teams such as Organization Development, Change Management and Total Rewards to identify business priorities in support of people strategy and related programming.

  • Lead and/or participate in HR continuous improvement projects.

  • Working closely with finance and internal partners on annual workforce planning for departmental budgets in collaboration with leadership

  • Maintaining in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.

  • Maintain HR records with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.

  • Remaining up to date on all relevant industry related legislation, best practices, and trends.

  • Performing other related duties as assigned, including contributing to HR goals, projects, and initiatives.

You bring:

  • A University or College education in Human Resources or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of related experience as an HR Business Partner, preferably supporting Corporate Functions.

  • Collaborative, experienced with supporting stakeholders and team members in a matrixed environment.

  • Business acumen with enterprise mindset.

  • Analytical thinking to contribute to enterprise strategic initiatives.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong relationship building and change management capabilities. A demonstrated ability to form excellent working relationships with the business and within HR.

  • Excellent communication, influence, problem solving, organization and analytical skills.

  • Ability to deal discreetly with sensitive and confidential information.

  • A high degree of autonomy and a strong work ethic with a positive team attitude.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

  • Working knowledge of employment related legislation including, but not limited to Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Ontario Human Rights Code, AODA, etc.

  • You have a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and HRIS systems, preferably Workday.
