We are seeking an experienced and strategic Leader for Risk Governance & Operational Risk Management. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a robust risk governance framework, managing operational risks, and supporting the fraud strategic initiative at Interac. This leadership position requires a deep understanding of payments industry, fraud landscape and operations, risk management best practices, and the ability to effectively collaborate across teams and departments. As a member of the Risk Management team, you’ll work under the guidance of the Head, Risk Management in the development and execution of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework at Interac.

Risk Governance:
Deliver leadership, governance and oversight over risk management activities (e.g., risk assessments, integrated scenario analysis and stress testing, etc.) that support the corporate objectives.
Develop and manage risk policies, standards, and processes that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Establish and manage risk appetite metrics and work with the 1-line-of-defence business leaders/risk owners to ensure risks are understood, monitored and reported on an on-going basis and are managed in relation to the corporate risk appetites.
Manage risk monitoring and reporting to the Management Risk Committee and Board Risk Committee to support risk mitigation and risk informed decision making.
Lead, coach and develop a team of 3 risk professionals.
Operational Risk Management:
Oversee the end-to-end operational risk management process
Responsible for the design and implementation of operational risk management tools, including Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reporting and Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program.
Collaborate with various teams to implement robust operational risk controls and ensure timely response to any risk events.
Fraud Risk Management:
Work closely with the Product team and fraud Operations team to support the design, implementation, and oversight of Interac’s fraud strategic thrust.
Provide risk support to the design and implementation of fraud detection and prevention measures, ensuring a proactive approach to identifying new and emerging fraud trends in payments.
Stay informed on the latest fraud threats and industry practices, advising senior leadership on necessary actions to stay ahead of potential vulnerabilities.
Who are you?
You have a university degree in Economics, Business, Finance or equivalent.
You have at least fifteen (15) years relevant work experience, with significant experience in regulatory reporting, risk governance or fraud risk management space (at least ten years’ experience in the identified areas).
You have strong working knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards for risk management and controls (working knowledge of fraud risk management is preferred).
You have excellent written and verbal communication skills at an executive or Board level.
You can quickly distill large amount of data and information and translate it into presentable materials.
You are great at managing ambiguity and can quickly grasp the essence of the discussion.
You can set and drive the “big picture” strategy while also having the capability to provide detailed technical and process guidance to your team and business partners.
You can create a strong culture of collaboration and partnership with cross-functional peers.
You possess excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
You have strong business acumen, strategic thinking, sound professional judgement, creative problem-solving skills, and “can-do” mentality.
Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
