The Systems Engineering, Senior Specialist will support the implementation of workstreams that assess the current state of the organization, drive continuous improvement and increase organizational effectiveness. They will use analytical thought to contribute to enterprise strategic initiatives.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Ensuring critical systems meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Objectives (SLOs) for high availability.

  • Managing on-prem and cloud infrastructure for critical systems, including Express Routes, Direct Connects, and Palo Alto Firewalls.

  • Deploying and managing cloud services in AWS and Azure with a deep understanding of cloud concepts.

  • Automating infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.

  • Providing system administration services and support for virtualized on-prem environments (VMware).

  • The installation, configuration, maintenance, and performance tuning of Windows & RHEL operating system components and system software packages.

  • Monitoring system health, performance, and capacity, managing system alerts/notifications, creating dashboards, and analyzing & reviewing system trends.

  • Developing and executing software currency strategies in support of vulnerability and patch management policies.

  • Troubleshooting complex issues and outages, documenting retrospectives and root cause analysis.

  • Finding ways to automate processes and procedures, wherever feasible.

  • Building and maintaining technical documentation and operating manuals for physical and logical environments.

  • Ensuring the integrity of fundamental infrastructure operations (availability, monitoring, backup/recovery, capacity) in support of Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP).

  • Coordinating with vendors for escalated support issues while effectively communicating with internal and external business partners.

  • Coordinating the information security function for Interac’s Corporate Technology systems. Developing and delivering a comprehensive departmental information security strategy to optimize the department’s security posture.

  • Developing and maintaining the departmental ISO Program, including policies, standards, and procedures.

  • Coordinating the department's information technology-related aspects of annual or biennial MSA and ISO audits, including evidence gathering and reporting.

  • Conducting regular reviews of vulnerability scans and risk assessments with Security to identify existing or potential weaknesses in systems and processes that could lead to compromises; facilitating remediation of identified vulnerabilities within processes, systems, and applications.

  • Driving the team toward industry-leading practices by implementing methodologies, philosophy, tools, processes, and principles of operational excellence.

  • Embracing new technology and taking charge of new challenges & responsibilities.

You bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT and/or 10+ years of equivalent work experience in IT.

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.

  • Strong background in Azure Cloud Solutions (Azure Site Recovery, Networking, Blob Storage, Resource Groups, NSG, Application Insights, Load Balancers, Conditional Access Policies, Rights Management, ExpressRoute, AKS, Front Door, Application Gateways, Redis, CDN, Application Insights).

  • 5+ years of professional experience managing VMware core components, including vCenter and ESX.

  • 7+ years of working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Windows Server.

  • 5+ years of working knowledge and experience with Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Oracle).

  • Strong experience with Active Directory sites and services, Azure AD Connect, Azure AD, AD Certificate Services, Exchange Server, and MS SQL.

  • Knowledge of Azure Monitor, Azure Automation Update Management and PRTG Network monitoring tools.

  • The ability to perform well in strict, change-controlled, process-driven environments and agile, flexible environments.

  • Knowledge and experience supporting an ISO27001-governed ISMS practice.

  • Knowledge and experience managing and troubleshooting: Dell, HP, Pure Storage.

  • Knowledge of backup technologies such as Veeam.

  • Experience with Office 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online.

  • Knowledge of Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence); user management, site creation, project creation, workflows.

  • Experience scripting and automating using PowerShell and Ansible.

  • Exemplary interpersonal and technical support skills.

  • Curious and logical thinking about solving technology, process, or procedural challenges in a team environment.
