Diversity and Inclusion Associate Intern

Reporting to the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Director, the D&I Associate intern will assist in coordinating all D&I efforts to evaluate, identify, define and foster opportunities to address systemic barriers to inclusion and embed D&I in all facets of business, employee and community experiences. They will draw on their exceptional time management, communications and event organizing skills to contribute to enterprise initiatives.

You’re great at…

  • Assisting with the organization and execution of in-person and virtual D&I events

  • Managing the centralized D&I intranet, calendar, inbox and Microsoft Teams channels

  • Assisting with creating communications to acknowledge days of significance

  • Ideating on ways to foster a culture of belonging

Who are you?

  • Curious to constantly learn and understand what motivates people and how to engage diverse individuals

  • You have incredible organizational skills that enable you to manage tasks effectively

  • You can articulate your thoughts succinctly in written communication

  • You want to be a part of a team that fosters diversity, inclusion, and equity for employees and communities

  • You understand the impacts of systemic racism and the importance of psychological safety

Must have skills:

  • Excellent written, spoken, presentation and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience with diversity & inclusion / advocacy (within school environment, previous internships)

  • Foundational D&I knowledge and understanding of current best practices

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Critical thinking and logical reasoning to make informed decisions

Nice to have skills:

  • Understanding of Employee Resource Groups / Affinity Groups

  • Relevant certification in D&I covering topics such as D&I in workplaces, anti-racism, anti-oppression

  • Experience with facilitating meetings and events with multi-disciplinary committees and managing diverse stakeholder groups

  • Analytical thinker

Workstyle: Hybrid

Location: Toronto

Duration: January – April 2024
