Release Manager

You will lead the execution of software releases by working with application development, quality assurance and production support teams, defining the acceptance criteria for production delivery. You will be accountable for demonstrating a high level of project/release management expertise through quarterbacking releases for all Interac commercial systems. While maintaining professional conduct and accreditation, you are responsible for all functions related to application releases and bug-fix deployments. This includes scheduling the release and deployment activities, managing resources accountable for the new Interac deliverables (i.e., product, service, or process), and planning changes to existing applications with cross-functional complexities. In addition, you will closely work in establishing a sustainable steady-state operating model for application deployments. Overall, you play a crucial role in building strong, collaborative relationships with release partners and squads, removing roadblocks and driving the work of an innovative team.

  • Directing, managing, and coordinating releases that may include collaboration with people from other Interac areas, user groups, internal and external consultants.

  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to review, coordinate and verify new releases through the release management processes

  • Working with the team to understand the scope of deliverables and engage in prioritization, resource allocation, and release management activities.

  • Tracking the overall software lifecycle of code deployments, from the planning, build, testing to Production deployment

  • Collaborate with technology teams to continuously improve the release management processes so they are efficient, respect the quality standards in the shortest timelines possible

  • Initiate and manage change activities required for various technical releases or application related changes

  • Influencing and participating in the planning of the technical framework through the execution of proof of concepts and tool exploration exercises for both code delivery and quality assurance.

  • Leading the interaction and support of application maintenance releases, including application infrastructure overall health and capacity management.

  • Expedite issues to resolution, negotiating and influencing people at all levels to ensure the release goals are met.

  • Understanding the workings of the organization’s ITIL and ISO-focused procedures and proficiency in using standards/tools and methodologies.

  • Ensuring that the industry best practices and policies are applied within the confines of Interac’s security and infrastructure realms.

  • Exhibiting a working knowledge of core release competencies and driving the release communications ensuring timely delivery to sponsors and senior management.

  • Participating in after-hours maintenance window support leading and managing release deployments.

Who are you?

  • University Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must be eligible to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a Full Time Capacity.

  • Possess strong knowledge and 3+ years of experience in release management.

  • Possess strong knowledge of SDLC, DevOps and CI/CD tools.

  • Strong Knowledge of build tools and version control software (Jenkins, Git, GitHub).

  • Experience planning and leading a team of software engineers during deployments.

  • Experienced in planning major or minor software releases.

  • Possess strong knowledge of Change Management and Incident Management practices.

  • Experience in troubleshooting applications in an environment with expected uptime (SLA driven), you can decide on the nature of problems and the implementation of solutions.

  • Able to work without oversight and act as a critical point of contact between multiple teams.

  • Expected to build and maintain documentation in support of application deployment, middleware management, quality assurance and support our ISO27001 governed documentation management practice.

  • Experience in the use of ITIL software, like ServiceNow and JIRA.

  • Experience using JIRA, issue trackers and other collaborative software to communicate shared execution plans and operational documentation.

  • Strong communication skills - verbal and written (technical documentation).

  • Participated in delivering software components as part of an agile development process.

  • Willing to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve successful outcomes when handling difficult situations & customers.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities & follow through on projects to completion.

  • Organized and deal with information coming from different sources at once.
