As part of a professional and dedicated team, you will provide services to clients and members in the administration of defined benefit pension plans. Your diverse responsibilities will allow you to use your analytical skills on a daily basis and to grow in a challenging career.

In addition to being responsible for verifying the production of payroll for retired members and lump-sum payments for our customers' pension plans, you will be called upon to work on various team mandates such as the production of death packages for retirees, as well as the preparation of various monthly and annual reports for the customer and members.

Your responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the necessary reconciliation work for each payroll.

  • Perform monthly benefit payrolls and lump sum payments to participants.

  • Plan, organize and process the year-end process (issuance of tax slips, summaries,).

  • Target the sources of a problem and propose concrete solutions.

  • Know the scope of deliverables and meet deadlines by managing and prioritizing activities.

  • Work in partnership with various internal stakeholders.

  • Performs all other related tasks and accomplishes specific mandates at the request of his/her immediate superior.

  • Analyze and verify participant data and files.

  • Follow up on files and update information in the various software programs.

  • Calculate and pay various benefits (retirement, departure, divorce, death) in accordance with regulations and laws in force.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations related to benefit payments.

  • Respond to requests from customers, members and trustees, taking care to communicate relevant information and follow up as appropriate.

  • Validate and enter data into various databases and systems.

  • Perform any other duties required in the performance of this function.

Basic qualifications:

  • Have a DEC in accounting with 3-5 years experience in payroll.

  • Have a very good knowledge of Excel.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to understand and systematize technical concepts.

  • Demonstrate a good team spirit.

  • Demonstrate a sense of responsibility and autonomy.

  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrate a concern for quality.

  • Ability to plan, organize and manage priorities.

  • Flexible, available and able to manage priorities.

  • Good initiative and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written in French and a very good English.

  • Good learning skills and professional judgment.

  • Membership in the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) would be an asset.

  • Experience in pension administration would be an asset.
