About the role:
We’re looking for Senior and Staff-level software engineers to join teams in our Channels and Exchange Products divisions in Toronto. These are primarily back-end teams — see below for their mandates and impact on Index Exchange's business. Ultimate team fit will depend on the experience that an individual candidate is bringing to Index, their interests, and the needs of our different teams.
Channels
The Channels division supports Index Exchange’s customers across all advertising domains. We lead innovation in streaming TV by driving efficiency and developing tools that enhance the viewer experience while continuing to advance Web and Mobile App channels. Our team collaborates with industry groups to establish improved standards, generates actionable insights for customers, and delivers optimal signals to both publishers and advertisers. This work is underpinned by the deep technical expertise required to operate at true internet scale. Led by Luke Corrigall, Director of Engineering.
Exchange Products
The Exchange Products division builds the features that power our Exchange and drive real revenue. We’re shaping the next generation of our platform, enabling external partners to grow their businesses by integrating inventory directly or extending our Exchange through our tech stack. Our team tackles challenging scalability problems and develops cutting-edge products—all while creating tangible value for our partners. Led by Dennis Lokkers, Director of Engineering.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be working on cutting edge programmatic ad tech systems that handle hundreds of billions of transactions every day
- The systems and tools you’ll be working on allow our partners to easily interact with our exchange including work on Open-Source projects
- Designing, writing, and testing robust and reliable code
- Working closely with product to deeply understand the domain and identify opportunities for improvements
- Finding practical technological solutions
- Analyzing and estimating work in an agile environment
- Fostering a collaborative environment by bringing people together to come up with better designs and approaches to complex problems
- Suggest, promote and implement improvements to coding standards and practices
Here's what you need:
- Strong software engineering skills, including proficiency in high-throughput programming languages such as Golang, Java, C#
- Demonstrable expertise in complex back-end systems including experience in designing, developing and testing high quality services
- Excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to think differently, and an understanding that compromise, negotiation and practicality are important qualities
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Staff level: Extensive experience leading impactful, cross-team technical projects from start to finish
