Job Description:

About the Role

IMAX is looking for a Repair Technician to join our growing team. Reporting to the Manager, Repair Services. We’re looking for someone with a curious and investigative mindset to repair, configure, and test various components within our Cinema projection and audio systems.

What you’ll do:

  • Responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and testing of Field Replaceable Units (FRUs), including the configuration, programming, and calibration of various electronic parts and assemblies.

  • Work in close collaboration with the other members of the Repair team, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Installation, and Technical Service Teams.

  • Support the development of repair procedures for both legacy and new products.

  • Provide input into the creation and support of jigs and fixtures in support of repair processes.

  • Maintain repair records including configurations sheets, labour hours, and repair tasks being performed into the Field Service Management System.

  • Ensure all work is performed in full compliance with safe working practices and procedures.

  • Provide technical written and verbal feedback for continuous process improvement.

  • Perform other duties as required and assigned

What you’ll need:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Electronic Engineering Technology or Technician from a recognized institution

  • Knowledge of PC configuration, networking, hardware components and Windows OS

  • Knowledge and prior experience in the interaction of both electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies

  • Competent in the safe use of all hand tools and soldering equipment

  • Practical experience with general electrical/electronic test equipment

  • Prior ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) training and awareness.

  • Prior experience with PCBs (printed circuit board)

  • Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings and schematics to perform efficient repairs.

  • Ability to handle physical labour. (Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to prioritize task assignments

  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills

  • Work well in a team with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Help the department through collaboration and continuous process improvements

Nice to have:

  • Experience in a “Repair Depot” environment

  • Command line entry and Linux knowledge and experience

  • Proficiency in all MS office applications and advanced level skills in excel

  • Working knowledge and certification of IPC
