Manufacturing Engineer (Junior - Mechanical, Mechatronics)
Location: Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario

Education: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred
As Manufacturing Engineer at ICSPI, you will be responsible for managing the logistics, production, and mechanical design of our atomic force microscope devices. You will be in charge of sourcing parts, interfacing with external contract manufacturers (CM) and design for manufacturing (DFM) of mechanical components. You will be involved in the product life cycle from concept to manufacture to distribution.
You will have a huge impact on revolutionary technology that is used in over 30 countries around the world for cutting-edge research, industrial metrology, and for teaching the next generation of scientists and engineers.
Responsibilities
Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Owner of production and logistics of our atomic force microscope devices
- Develop processes to foster productivity and set quality standards
- Forecast and scale production, manage inventory
- Work with our manufacturing partners to ensure quality and yield targets are met
- Identify problems and troubleshoot root causes
- Initiate continuous improvement plans
- Manage shipping and receiving logistics
- Develop and maintain manufacturing metrics such as yield, scrap, re-work, capacity, utilization, downtime, etc.
- Support new product development and research & development projects

Qualifications
- Good foundation in mechanical engineering, supply chain engineering and manufacturing engineering
- Demonstrated ability in project management
- Experienced in computer aided design (CAD) - SolidWorks preferred
- Experienced in conventional manufacturing techniques and rapid prototyping
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience with practical quality control practices and Quality Management Systems
- Experience and knowledgeable of the application of quality control methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Experience with electrical design and electrical prototyping
- Interest in MEMS and semiconductor device fabrication
- Foundation in precision mechanical design
- Experience with mechanical/thermomechanical Finite Element Method (FEM/FEA) modeling
