Your Mission

The Tax Manager will oversee all corporate compliance and reporting activities and support with tax planning. This role serves as a key member of the Finance team and works closely with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Commercial teams and external tax advisors. Reporting to the Senior Director of Global Tax, the Tax Manager plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and indirect tax requirements while supporting strategic tax planning initiatives and supporting business stakeholders on tax matters. The Tax Manager acts as a trusted advisor, proactively monitoring legislative developments, assessing tax risks and opportunities, and providing clear, actionable guidance on tax implications impacting business.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

  • Manage the preparation and filing of all corporate income tax returns completed by external tax advisors, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission across all jurisdictions, including the preparation of the related working papers where necessary.
  • Coordinate and oversee indirect tax compliance (e.g., sales tax, GST/HST, VAT, property tax) to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
  • Ensure timely remittance of tax payments and instalments
  • Prepare and manage quarterly and annual tax provisions, including deferred tax calculations and financial statement disclosures.
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation, compliance, and intercompany transaction structures.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess implications for the organization, summarizing for internal stakeholders accordingly.
  • Research applicable tax matters to support business needs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams on tax planning initiatives, including financing, project finance, and global expansion activities.
  • Support strategic projects, financial modelling, and scenario planning from a tax perspective.
  • Respond to tax audits and inquiries, liaising with external tax authorities and advisors.
  • Analyzes and appropriately responds to notices from taxing authorities.
  • Drive innovation and efficiency, identify risks and mitigation solutions while maintaining compliance and transparency.
  • Develop and implement tax processes, policies, and internal controls to support operational excellence.
  • Support with ad-hoc tasks required by the business.

What You Bring

  • 5–7+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, corporate tax, or a combination of both.
  • CPA designation in Canada and completion of CPA Canada In‑Depth Tax Program or Master of Taxation (MTax).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated in‑depth experience in preparing and reviewing income tax provisions under IFRS or US GAAP, including complex deferred tax calculations.
  • Strong track record in timely corporate tax compliance, audit management, and engagement with tax authorities and external advisors.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear, practical guidance for stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, tax technology tools, or automation platforms; experience with specific systems is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to international tax, transfer pricing, or US or Australian tax regimes.
  • Experience within energy, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive sectors is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with tax considerations relating to financing transactions or project development is viewed as a strong asset.

Compensation Details

  • $110,000 - $150,000 base salary
