Your Mission:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Manager to oversee the construction of our Advanced Compressed Air Energy storage (A-CAES) plant for our Silver City Project.
This role requires a person with expertise in
- Building, Developing and Managing teams both internally and externally;
- Assessing needs, Optimising and Management of Change;
- Developing and Implementation of Systems;
- Tendering Negotiation and Management of Service Providers and Subcontractors;
- Knowledge of Structural, Mechanical, Piping (SMP), Electrical, Instrumentation, Control (EI&C) and Civils disciplines.
This role will work collaboratively with the wider Hydrostor team members and our Development partners on the Silver City Project as it moves through to financial close, construction, commissioning and commercial operation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the project is designed, procured and completed on time, within budget, and to meet or exceed industry quality and safety standards.
They will be adept at managing diverse teams, navigating complex stakeholder relationships and driving project success through effective communication and problem-solving.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Project Leadership
- Work with the construction team to successfully deliver the Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, and Civil aspects ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget and quality standards.
- Support the Hydrostor project leadership on site, providing strategic insights and management to facilitate seamless construction delivery with the design and construction partners.
- Act as a key representative for Hydrostor, ensuring the project aligns with company’s / projects goals and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate with the Hydrostor team to implement project plans, resolve issues promptly and maintain a unified approach to project execution.
Late-stage development
- Work collaboratively with the wider Hydrostor team members and construction partners to review the constructability of the project and suggest opportunities to improve costs, efficiencies, productivity and scheduling.
- Be part of the design review process to contribute your experience and knowledge to developing best for project solutions and designs.
- Develop construction readiness plans internally and with the construction partner to ensure construction execution is a success.
- Assist the project team in developing the necessary information, plans, procedures, policies to support the financial close technical and financial due diligence processes.
Construction Execution
- Monitor construction activities to ensure all work meets the project specifications, quality specifications, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Track and report on project progress, identifying any deviations from the plan and implementing correction actions as necessary with the construction partner.
- Address and resolve any issues that arise on-site, coordinating with the managing contractor and other stakeholders to ensure swift effective solutions.
- Ensuring that project goals and objectives are met and that the interests of Hydrostor are upheld throughout the construction process.
Project Controls
- Work with the construction team to successfully deliver the SMP, EI&C and civil works ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget and quality standards.
Stakeholder Management
- Working with the Project Stakeholder & Permitting Manager to develop and maintain effectively communication with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate project progress and resolve any issues that arise.
- Manage the interface relationship with the Transmission line constructor, ensuring smooth coordination between the two delivery schedules and tie-ins.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders to support project objectives and address concerns promptly.
Team Management
- Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, including engineers, contractors and support staff, to ensure compliance with project objectives and Hydrostor standards.
Risk Management
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans and strategies to minimise project disruptions and maximise opportunities to improve on CAPEX, schedule and performance while maintaining a high level of safety.
- Participate in the development, implementation and management of the Project Risk & Opportunities Register.
Contract Management
- Monitor contract performance and compliance, providing guidance and support to construction partners as needed.
- Ensure contracts are executed effectively, with clear terms and conditions that support project success and minimises risks.
- Support and manage procurement of long lead materials and services required for the project.
- Participate in contract negotiations and administration, ensuring all agreements align with project objectives and Hydrostor standards.
Industrial Relations Management
- Assist in the Management of industrial relations as appropriate, ensuring positive and productive relationships with labor unions, contractors, and site personnel to maintain a harmonious working environment and minimize disruptions.
Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance
- Monitor contractor compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and standards throughout the project lifecycle.
Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare regular progress reports and documentation for senior management, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and achievements.

You possess exceptional leadership and communication skills, which enable you to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
You adept at handling the unique challenges these projects present. You are well-versed in relevant regulations and standards governing construction, ensuring compliance and maintaining the highest safety standards.

What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Experience in the management of industrial relations highly desirable.
