Your Mission

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and optimizing processes for Hydrostor’s energy storage solutions. Reporting to the SVP, Engineering and Operations, you will apply your expertise in thermodynamics and process engineering to drive efficient and innovative systems. Your work will have a significant impact on the success of large-scale, sustainable energy projects. This role offers the opportunity to influence major infrastructure projects, contributing to the company’s mission to lead in long-duration energy storage.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

  • Lead the development and optimization of processes related to energy storage, with a focus on compressed fluid storage systems.
  • Model heat and mass balance for various systems to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and project management, to integrate process designs into larger project scopes.
  • Support the design and execution of processing plants, power plants, or similar large-scale infrastructure.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot process-related issues, providing technical expertise and solutions during the design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, process flow diagrams, and engineering calculations to support project goals.
  • Continuously assess and improve process performance through data analysis and advanced modelling techniques.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for long-duration energy storage systems, collaborating with R&D teams when required.

Who You Are

We are looking for an experienced and analytical individual with a strong background in thermodynamics and process engineering. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders. You will have a passion for solving complex engineering problems and a desire to innovate in the energy sector. A track record of success in large-scale infrastructure projects, whether in power plants, processing plants, or chemical plants, will be highly beneficial.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in process engineering, with a strong focus on thermodynamics and heat mass balance modelling
  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects such as power plants, processing plants, or chemical plants (preferred but not required)
  • Expertise in process modelling and optimization, particularly in relation to compressed fluid storage
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and relevant tools for process design and optimization
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamic principles and their application in real-world projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex process-related challenges
