Your Mission:
The Project Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and coordinating the engineering activities for Hydrostor's energy storage projects. Reporting to the Vice President – Project Engineering, this role ensures the seamless execution of engineering functions, including design, procurement, and construction phases, while collaborating with the Project Director and cross-functional teams. This position will have a significant impact on the project's success, helping to deliver innovative, sustainable energy solutions across global markets.
Your Day-to-Day Adventures
- Lead and oversee the engineering components of Hydrostor's projects, ensuring that all technical requirements are met and aligned with business goals.
- Manage EPC/EPCM contractors, ensuring technical alignment, supporting procurement efforts, and providing input into project schedules and budgets.
- Set and communicate the vision for engineering delivery, managing both internal and external resources to achieve project outcomes.
- Provide regular and standardized reporting on project progress, resource needs, and technical challenges.
- Support other projects and company objectives as needed, contributing your expertise to a dynamic, global project portfolio.
- Ensure the integration of safety, sustainability, and quality control into the design and engineering process.
- Collaborate closely with the product team to align engineering solutions with overall business objectives.
- Maintain project continuity through all stages of development, from design to commissioning.

What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with eligibility for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (or equivalent registration).
- 7+ years of relevant work experience, including fieldwork, project management, and QA/QC responsibilities.
- Expertise in safety and sustainability design principles and methods.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with experience managing large-scale projects and engineering teams.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and governance related to project development.
- Experience with power or processing plants and involvement in the procurement and construction lifecycles.
- Ability to manage resources and ensure alignment with project schedules, quality standards, and business needs.
- Experience with EPC or EPCM project delivery, including front-end engineering, cost estimation, detailed design, and construction.
- Proven experience leading project engineering teams through all project phases, from conceptual design to commissioning.
- Practical field experience, with a hands-on approach to project management and problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Fit-for-Purpose (safe and minimum) delivery and a value-based approach to project lifecycles.
- Experience in project setup, including developing control schedules, effort-hour estimating, staff forecasting, and progress reporting.
