Your Mission:

As a Project Electrical Engineer with a specialization in power generation and grid transmission facilities at Hydrostor, you will play a crucial role in advancing our organization's power generation solutions. This position is responsible for acting as a product owner and providing electrical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of power generation projects. Your work will be instrumental in shaping the future of sustainable power generation.

This position will require you to travel up to 50% of the time, depending on the project phase, between Melbourne, Victoria and project locations. Typical travel will be less than 50%.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

Product Ownership

  • Lead the documentation of product specifications, including electrical drawings and design documentation.
  • Interface with EPC and Vendor engineering to oversee all phases of design and represent Hydrostor as the owner of the project and the OEM of critical technology.

Electrical Expertise

  • Serve as the electrical advisor for grid-level engineering in power generation facilities.
  • Ensure the seamless connection of electrical equipment to large-scale power generation projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to power generation initiatives.

Project Management

  • Manage subject matter experts (SMEs) and consultants in executing power generation projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and timelines.
  • Oversee the integration of electrical components and systems into power generation facilities.

Systems Thinking

  • Apply systems thinking principles to analyze the interrelationships between electrical systems and the overall performance of power generation facilities.
  • Lead discussions and dialogues to understand, define, and manage complex electrical systems effectively.

Documentation and Specifications

  • Document all aspects of electrical product development, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Create electrical drawings and specifications for power generation components and systems.

Who You Are:

The ideal candidate is an experienced Electrical Engineer specializing in power generation facilities and grid transmission and transmission operators. They possess a solid systems-thinking mindset, comprehensive electrical expertise, and a track record of successful electrical integration in large-scale projects. This candidate excels in product ownership, project management, and technical leadership, working collaboratively to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems. Their innovative spirit and ability to manage subject matter experts make them a valuable asset in driving sustainable and efficient power generation solutions.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering with a specialization in power generation facilities and grid transmission
  • Proficiency in electrical system design, development, testing and integration.
  • Strong understanding of design and installation techniques and coordinating EPC contractors.
  • Proficiency in plant layout requirements of components and equipment.
  • Strong systems thinking skills and the ability to analyze complex interrelationships within power generation systems.
  • Proficiency in design and documentation tools and software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills to work within a project management system to advance ideas and designs through structured review and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards applicable in the jurisdiction of operation (IEEE or IEC).
  • Experience in project management or leadership roles.
  • Experience in an EPC environment would be an asset.
