Your Mission

As the Manager of Origination – North America at Hydrostor, you will be a vital member of the origination and development team, playing a pivotal role in the company's growth aspirations in the North American market. Reporting to the Vice President of Origination & Development, you will support existing business development opportunities while establishing and accelerating the progress of new opportunities and their business cases. Your primary responsibility will be identifying and originating new business development opportunities, working collaboratively with various departments and establishing strategic partnerships to drive growth.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

  • Identify and originate new business development opportunities in the North American market
  • Communicate business development strategies, sales, and marketing targets effectively
  • Increase knowledge of addressable markets and players by attending relevant conferences and seminars
  • Collaborate with other functional departments, including legal, corporate, regulatory, development, engineering, and technology
  • Establish strategic partnerships with high-value prospects, build trust and rapport with customers, and communicate Hydrostor technology effectively
  • Assist in the development and execution of market entry strategy for new target markets, considering local power market conditions, customer base, regulatory forces, and other factors
  • Work closely with the broader commercial and technical teams to advance opportunities in key markets, including analysis of prospective projects and development of these opportunities
  • Support off-take contract processes and negotiations to transform relationships into revenue opportunities
  • Prepare and negotiate term sheets and definitive agreements with development partners and other counterparties
  • Evaluate and submit responses to RFPs, including the development of offer pricing and strategy
  • Travel within North America and reasonable travel to head office in Toronto required (25% to 50%)

Who You Are

The ideal candidate will be an energetic and motivated team player passionate about sales and business development in a fast-paced, growing environment. You should demonstrate initiative, be performance-driven, and take accountability for your responsibilities. Critical thinking, good judgment, strong strategic oversight, and excellent communication skills are essential. You must have a deep understanding of power markets in North America and experience with offtake agreements such as PPAs and VPPAs. An advanced degree, particularly an MBA, would be advantageous. The ability to thrive in an environment with multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, coupled with a strong work ethic, will be crucial for success in this role.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (business or engineering preferred) an advanced degree would be considered an asset
  • Understanding of power markets (North America) is required
  • Proven experience with offtake agreements (PPAs, VPPAs, leases) for various off-takers
  • Strong desire to be a part of a high-growth company with an entrepreneurial spirit and a fast-paced, results-oriented culture
  • Excellent communication skills, written and oral
  • Critical thinker who takes initiative and has a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work as part of a team, particularly the project development and regulatory teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously and independently
  • Strong MS Office skills – mainly PowerPoint, Excel, and Word

Compensation Details:

  • Salary $100,000 - $160,000
