Role description:

Our GDIA Group out of our Toronto office is recruiting for the next Intern. This role would start in May 2026 and will be a 12-16 month placement. This student will work on Intelligent Systems projects. Candidates will be part of projects related to the application of technology in the transportation industry, which may include consulting, design, and deployment of software solutions.

Join us if you’re interested in a chance to work with various Canadian provincial agencies, US Department of Transportation agencies, the Bahamas Bridge Authority, and many more throughout the globe. Join us if you’re interested in a mix of small, short term projects, as well as large, complex P3 projects.

Role accountabilities:

• Develop functional requirements/specifications and procurement process documents
• Evaluate vendor proposals and design documentation
• Document and test software systems and GUIs
• Document and verify field conditions
• Prepare schedules and cost estimates
• Field inspections and acceptance testing, including advance review of proposed test procedures
• Support business development and proposal initiatives
• Research technology solutions for Smart Cities, communication systems,
• intelligent roadway or transit systems, including technology strategic plans development
• Potential travel to client sites (if applicable)

Qualifications & Experience:

• Candidates must be enrolled in Engineering program – preference for individuals looking for careers in systems and technology
• Experience with AutoCAD and MS Visio is considered an asset, it is not a requirement for this position.

We are seeking an ITS Intern who holds a valid Ontario Driver’s License and demonstrates above-average oral and written communication skills. The ideal candidate is able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Preference will be given to those who have a strong interest in pursuing a career focused on the application of technology within the communications and transportation industry.
