Role description:

We are seeking a BMS/EPMS Engineer to support the design, development, and implementation of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) for mission-critical projects. This role will focus on developing real-time building automation and power monitoring, system integration, data analytics, and advanced reporting solutions for data centers and high-reliability infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with power monitoring software, SCADA integration, communication protocols, and power system analysis.

The primary focus of this role is to support the technical design and engineering work before and during the implementation of customer projects under the direction of the BMS/PMS/SCADA senior lead engineer.

Role accountabilities:

  • Support the design and implementation of BMS/EPMS/SCADA for mission-critical facilities, ensuring high reliability and performance.
  • Participate in the development of real-time monitoring and analytics solutions to track power usage, energy efficiency, and system reliability.
  • Support the configuration and integration of EPMS with SCADA, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Electrical Infrastructure for seamless operation.
  • Support programming and troubleshooting of BMS/EPMS/SCADA software and hardware components, including power meters, gateways, and data acquisition devices.
  • Help define network architectures for BMS/EPMS/SCADA, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, controls engineers, IT teams, and commissioning specialists to ensure BMS/EPMS functionality aligns with project requirements.
  • Help develop custom dashboards, alarms, and reporting tools to enhance operational visibility.
  • Provide technical support and training to end users on BMS/EPMS operation and maintenance.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in building automation and power monitoring, IoT, and AI-driven analytics to enhance system capabilities.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in BMS, EPMS, IoT, SCADA and other intelligent building systems service or integration with at least 2 years in mission-critical environments (data centers, advanced manufacturing, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications:

We are seeking an entry-level professional with experience in designing, configuring, programming, installing, and troubleshooting HVAC controls, electrical SCADA systems, and application-specific controllers, software, and networks. The ideal candidate should have foundational knowledge of building management systems (BMS), electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), and control programming, including graphics development. Familiarity with platforms such as Trend, Niagara N4, Distech, Schneider, Ignition, and software systems like Inductive Automation, Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert, Eaton Foreseer, and Siemens EPMS is highly desirable. Additional skills in system integration, cybersecurity for BMS and EPMS networks, load monitoring, power quality analysis, and data visualization tools will be considered a plus. Inductive Automation – Ignition experience is particularly advantageous.

We are looking for a candidate with basic knowledge of air conditioning systems, energy management systems, HVAC systems, and temperature controls, as well as familiarity with power metering devices, SCADA/HMI interfaces, and communication protocols such as MQTT, Modbus, BACnet, JSON, SNMP, OPC, and DNP3. The ideal candidate should also have a foundational understanding of field wiring and terminations in accordance with RS-485, RS-232, and Ethernet standards, along with familiarity with industry standards like NFPA, IEEE, NEC, and guidelines related to power monitoring and electrical system reliability.

The salary range for this position is $56,000-$84,000 per year. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
