Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager with 10 years of experience to join our Resilience Water Team in Richmond, Virginia! We offer a flexible hybrid work culture with a balance between remote and in-office work.
The candidate in this role will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge to successfully execute projects. It also provides an exciting opportunity for an ideal candidate to leverage their experience and relationships to help build and grow our water practice in the central Virginia region.
This role involves leading water/wastewater design and construction projects, including water treatment/drinking water facility engineering, investigations, studies, analysis, designs, and construction administration services. You will be part of a dynamic team of engineers helping our clients develop sustainable and equitable solutions to the challenges faced by the water industry.
Role accountabilities:
This role will manage and lead project/tasks and clients in the planning, design and construction of water, wastewater, and stormwater facilities including but not limited to treatment facilities, distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration for both new construction and for rehabilitation work.
Other responsibilities include:
- Provide technical support to our team of highly skilled engineers while leading projects simultaneously and utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the team’s overall capabilities.
- Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for water, wastewater, and storm system assets including treatment facilities, pipelines and pump/lift stations using a variety of approaches and technologies.
- Lead preparation of detailed engineering calculations and analysis and utilize design software to solve complex issues.
- Meet established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope schedule and budget.
- Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions and may lead teams in the preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations.
- Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
- Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior level engineers and design/drafting technical staff.
- Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
- The job may require some travel for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes, or overseeing construction activities based on project staffing needs.
This dynamic and multifaceted role necessitates adaptability, strong leadership skills, and a dedicated commitment to ensuring the successful delivery of water and wastewater projects in adherence to industry best practices and standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of experience including water/wastewater
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering or a related field of study.
- PE License in Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Key Skills/Attributes
For this role, it is essential to have excellent technical writing skills. The candidate should have experience in managing the preparation of project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates, as well as reviewing and approving them. Additionally, strong client relationship skills; including the ability to prepare and develop proposals, client management experience with a successful track record of delivering various engineering projects that meet client expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications for this position include having 15 years of experience in engineering and consulting, primarily related to the municipal water market. Candidates should possess design and permitting experience with water and wastewater treatment systems, as well as distribution, conveyance, and pumping and storage facilities. Excellent technical engineering and project or task management skills within the water and wastewater practice area are also important. The ideal candidate will have project experience that includes the design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater systems, and pump or lift stations. A Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, or an MBA, is preferred. Additionally, active participation in regional or national professional associations is highly desirable.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $82,400 - $161,405/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
