Due to a growth requirement that strengthens our market position, Arcadis has an opportunity for a Technical Director – Permanent Way to join our National Rail Business Unit in Sydney. This role is required to support our National Track and Civil team, delivering a significant pipeline of work across projects nationally. - Providing both technical leadership and technical advice on Permanent Way design throughout the project lifecycle from Technical Advisory engagements, concept design, detailed design through to construction phase services and asset management;
- Planning, directing, and coordinating multidisciplinary projects by providing guidance, design verification and feedback on both management and technical issues to ensure that goals meet specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines;
- Provide high quality engineering design and consultancy services to the rail industry in Australia ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements;
- To take a key role in mentoring team members to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within our track and civil team. You will provide both leadership and technical guidance to team members, while developing the team to its full potential. This will include local and global excellence centers;
- Working in collaboration with other design teams and disciplines to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design;
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external client stakeholders; and
- Representing Arcadis within the wider industry as an ambassador of our capabilities in the market.
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving the quality of life and want to be part of city-shaping projects that change the way we move around our cities. You are a registered or accredited professional with extensive experience in major project delivery and will come to us with:
- Relevant engineering degree or equivalent professional accreditation. CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV, Post-graduate qualifications would be an advantage;
- Approximately 20+ years’ relevant Australian experience in all forms of Permanent Way design including;
- Design experience on NSW rail projects and TAO accreditations
- Experience in providing Expert / SME
- Passion to drive innovation, creativity, and process improvements in Permanent Way design solutions;
- Membership of and actively engaging with key industry bodies would be an advantage;
- Expertise in ensuring high-quality delivery of design drawings, models, design reports and technical advice;
- Excellent client-focus and a sound technical know-how;
- Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with clients, stakeholders and team members;
- Demonstrated ability to lead a design team, with good influencing, motivating, mentoring, and delegation skills; and
- Proven track record in excellent communication (written and verbal) both internally and externally.
