HotSpot Cities
Arcadis is a leading international organization that provides design, engineering, and consultancy services for a sustainable built and natural environment. With over 36,000 employees in more than 70 countries, we are committed to improving the living environment worldwide. Everyone plays a crucial role in this mission. During your internship, you will work on design and consultancy projects within hydraulic engineering and infrastructure.
Role Description
As a Geotechnical Consultant, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team that works on complex hydraulic engineering, infrastructure and maritime projects, both in NL and abroad. With Arcadis, you will have the opportunity to be involved in challenging geotechnical issues. We are designing and advising on large locks and quay walls, but also tunnels and underground structures. With your expertise, you will work on projects such as the Fraser River Tunnel in Vancouver, renovation of the Krammer Locks or the Inner-city Quay Walls Program in Amsterdam.
Your work consists of performing design calculations and drawing up advisory reports. In your designs, you consider economic optimization, feasibility, environmental sustainability and safety. In addition, you use your digital skills to standardize and automate the design process.
We like to challenge you to think beyond your own specialization and investigate interfaces with hydraulic engineering and structural design. For example, do you like programming in Python? Do you prefer to first lay a solid technical foundation and then grow into a multidisciplinary design leader? Or do you have an above-average ambition to adopt sustainability in design? We’d like to discuss your interests and develop your ambitions!
Advisory Group
As a Geotechnical Consultant, you are part of the Hydraulic Engineering & Maritime Infrastructure advisory group, and therefore part of a large network within Arcadis. We are an enthusiastic team of young and energetic colleagues combined with very experienced and enthusiastic seniors. We have an open and cooperative work culture and continuously help each other to grow and have fun during and after work. You work together with designers, specialists, BIM modelers and account managers in wet and dry infrastructure and are part of the Arcadis-wide national and international network. This gives you plenty of room to further develop your expert knowledge and work on a wide variety of projects.
Qualifications & Experience
Your entrepreneurial and professional attitude makes you feel at home in a results-oriented environment. This is where your innovative solutions and expertise come in. You are a real team player, but can also work independently.
We are looking for a colleague who meets the following requirements: ·
- Completed HBO and/or academic education in hydraulic engineering;
- 0 - 2 years of work experience, international (internship) experience is a plus;
- Solution-oriented with a practical approach;
Fluent in both English language (essential) and Dutch (preferred, not necessary).
